Re: Fibaro FGR-223

Matt, Jay

I am very sorry. But I really don‘t agree with what you are implying.
You expect us to provide data for devices you are not supporting so you can (eventually) bring your software up to date.
In exchange for that, we have to pay an annual fee for updates that might come some day.
Additionally you act as if you were doing a good deed if you support the product and expect us to be very grateful for that

I realize I am trapped in this at the moment and should keep quiet.

My initial question is more than a year old. The device in question still isn‘t in the supported list. Others seem to wait for it as well.
Do you really think it would have been worth to buy those devices,, install them and wait until your software might support them?

And if you missed that, I was just answering duriosity’s question and was sort of apologizing that I didn‘t file a device definition.
Never mind, I will keep quiet from now on.

Re: Fibaro FGR-223

Oh yikes sorry I’ve hit a bit of a sore spot there!

Don’t worry I’ll go send the details as requested. I’m more than happy to work with ya on getting it added.

I do agree it can be a little frustrating with having to submit first, get it working later.. but I guess with so many modules and so many variants of those modules (and different use cases) it’s probably the only real way for M&J to do it. Especially considering many of the devices submitted won’t even be available for use on US frequencies! So let’s all take a step back and let clearer heads prevail!

Re: Fibaro FGR-223

Personally, I don't mind buying modules that are not supported and submitting device definitions when I really need them. I'v done that in the past and recently with Qubino ZMNHID3 (BTW, it mostly works). Nowadays most stores allow returns, so if a device truly doesn't work I can usually return it. (I do test them on the "bench" before going all commando and permanently installing them though) For me, and I assume a lot of Indigo customers, HA is a useful hobby with the understanding that it will require a bit of work (and wife patience). I find that Mat and Jay are super responsive to all the issues I have brought up.

Re: Fibaro FGR-223

Most excellent. I’m hoping to get this window opener hooked up soon, so of course make it utter top priority.. no sleeping, no eating.. don’t even waste time breathing!

Ok fine breathing is permitted.. ugh.. you’re so needy.

Re: Fibaro FGR-223

You really think Jay’s gonna unlock the window down there so you can “test a new module”.

He ain’t gonna let you escape that easily!

Hi Matt,

As mentioned we are building a house and need to get these modules installed for our blinds. To coordinate with the electricians and make sure I am ready to configure and test the modules as they install them (likely to be in about 4/6 weeks time) I would need to know if / when FGR-223 will likely be added to supported modules.

It would be great if you could give me an idea of how long it would likely be -- or --
if you dont see that happening then I will see if I can get them swapped for the older module, which might be tricky but could be worth a try.

If there is anything that I can do to help please let me know.

Thanks

Chris

Re: Fibaro FGR-223

Given such enthusiasm for proper motor control support I hope someone can also look at support for the Fakro openers  ....been discussed on other threads since 2015. There's a raw z-wave workaround for a stop message but open/close status doesn't get reported properly which is frustrating.
