Remove nodes from Z-stick gen5

I have 4 nodes in my Z-stick gen5 which I can't delete. I no longer have those devices (old faulty ones), so I can't exclude them. When I try to create a "new device" in Indigo and sync it with one of these nod id's to get a failed device and then remove failed devices in the Z-wave menu, the Z-stick hangs (and times out as interface) during sync and needs to be unplugged and plugged back in to get to work again. I removed other old nodes this way, but there are 4 I just can't delete.

Any ideas on how I can force delete 4 unused nodes in the Z-stick controller? Any work around to use? I need to get them marked as failed so I can use the option to remove failed nodes in the Z-wave menu.

Okay, so I actually had a 5th node which I couldn't remove. It was also unused, but apparently had a neighbour still configured (the neighbor node 61 is an active device). Once I managed to remove that neighbor, I could remove the node.

The four nodes left to remove have eachother as neighbors, so I can't optimize them to get rid of the neighbour statements.
My nodes which I can't remove are:
072 with neighbor 116 and vice versa
086 with neigbor 107 and vice versa
Deleting the neigbor records for the nodes should solve my problem.

Create a Zwave device and select the node(s) that don’t exist.

Let it try and sync, and subsequently fail.

Then go to Interfaces > Zwave > Remove failed devices.

Try this:

1. Create a new device and try to sync it.
2. When it fails, open the Z-Wave config dialog and turn on debugging
3. Try to remove failed devices

Hopefully having debug logging on when you try to remove the failed devices will give us some hints. My guess is that your Z-Stick has gotten into a bad state or is failing, but maybe this will show differently.

Here is a log with debug. I created a new devices, tried to sync which "failed" or timed out. Then I tried to remove failed nodes from the controller. The nodes that Indigo tries to remove later are nodes which are actually fine and have not failed.

The Z-stick hangs and the led is steady on one colour instead of changing between the three colours. The only solution to get Z-wave up and running again is to disconnect and reconnect the Z-stick. I tried to back up the Z-stick and restore it onto another Z-stick, but the problem is exactly the same. I have also tried this on two Mac minis, one with MacOS 10.14.1 and one with 10.7.5, the same issue on both.

That is the same behaviour I was getting when running optimisation (led cycling on the stick stops, and only unplugging it will allow a restart), I had to do it manually device by device. It does seem the Gen5 stick can get into this state (and with a lot of nodes). It does seem to have started with the most recent Indigo versions, but it could well be the state of my Z wave network and coincidence.

I can't rule out that my Z-sticks are beginning to give up, both were bought when the product was released.
I read that there was a new firmware released recently but then withdrawn.

I thought the same about the stick, and bought a new one. Both had exactly the same behaviour After restoring the backup. I also upgraded and again no difference. The upgrade was pulled but is available and the issue seemed to be the upgrade utility could brick the stick. No details on what the upgrade adds.

Okay, so the reply from Aeon Labs is "The easiest method would be to factory reset the Z-Stick Gen5 and re-include all nodes."

I tried the Zensys tool, same issue there. I bought a brand new Z-stick today, same issue there. In other words, it is not an Indigo issue, it is not a faulty Z-stick, but it is something with how a few nodes are registered/configured/stored in the Z-stick making it impossible(?) to remove them. I have no issues with other nodes, I can include and exclude nodes as well as delete other nodes marked as failed.

Matt, Jay, you are the experts. Is there any way to access the Z-stick configuration/database to delete my 4 stuck nodes?

Afraid not. The APIs Indigo has access to for node management (and routing) is super limited.
