Aeon Labs Home Energy Meter ( ZW095 ) not reporting

I've installed one of these, the single clamp model (for 240v single phase). It doesn't seem to be reporting at all, no matter what I set the reporting interval to (it's currently at 30 seconds). It does correctly update the values if I manually update it using the update button. Any idea why? I'm running Indigo 7.2.

I attach the the sync log and the device details.

Re: Aeon Labs Home Energy Meter ( ZW095 ) not reporting

Also, (see attached screenshot) there is no option displayed for polling the Meter, which I would have hoped would correct this. I tried turning the polling GUI on (in my cack-handed, no knowledge of Python) manner like this, but it didn't work.

Code: Select all
>>> meter=indigo.devices[174941567] # "036 - Meter Total"

>>> print meter.globalProps["com.perceptiveautomation.indigoplugin.zwave"]["zwShowPollingUI"]
False

meter.globalProps["com.perceptiveautomation.indigoplugin.zwave"]["zwShowPollingUI"]=True

>>> print meter.globalProps["com.perceptiveautomation.indigoplugin.zwave"]["zwShowPollingUI"]
False

Damn!

Properties can only be directly changed by the Z-Wave interface (or the plugin that "owns" the device).

Not sure why the device isn't automatically reporting (it should I think). You might try excluding then including it again (that may act as a reset).

Re: Aeon Labs Home Energy Meter ( ZW095 ) not reporting

I have tried removing it, factory resetting it and including it again to no avail.
I am puzzled as to why there is no "polling" option on the setup dialog (attached). Indeed, compared to all the options on the device, the configuration dialog seems very sparse.
It DOES return new values if I press the "Update" button. Is there a way of effectively pressing the "Update" button every minute or so with a trigger?

Re: Aeon Labs Home Energy Meter ( ZW095 ) not reporting

Indigo's polling UI is not shown for that module because the module itself has a configuration parameter for specifying a reporting interval (that doesn't require a status request/poll command). I'm not sure why that isn't working in this case. You can create a Schedule in Indigo that repeats every minute, then just have the action be of type Device Actions->Universal Controls->Request Energy Update and select your 036 - Meter Total device as the target.

Re: Aeon Labs Home Energy Meter ( ZW095 ) not reporting

Aeon labs appear to have thought of this; there are several options which configure a threshold (in both percent and watts) required to trigger an update, on each clamp separately and on the device total, and also a "chatter reduction" flag that prevents excessive chatter on the channel.
Needless to say, I fiddled with ALL of these options and it made no difference.

That's exactly what I needed, thank you so much! It seems to be working fine now!

Re: Aeon Labs Home Energy Meter ( ZW095 ) not reporting

Does anyone find the HEM Gen 5 ZW095-C does not record Wattage & kWH very accurately? I am seeing mine report values between 20-25% less than the true values as verified by another (non Z-WAVE) monitor and my smart meter which both match,

I am in the UK on a 240v Single Phase feed and using the Single clamp version of the HEM.

I have the Watts and kWH reporting into Indigo just not getting the right values.

Thanks!

Mine reports accurately. I compare it to my utility company meter. In USA On 110 VAC with dual clamps.

- Is the clamp mounted at the right position? (wrong position give bad results)
- Below 1-2 ampere the measurement is not 100% accurate.

It's working perfectly here at the other side of the North Sea....

Re: Aeon Labs Home Energy Meter ( ZW095 ) not reporting

I understand that I can "request energy update" as an action from
Device Action >> Universal Controls >> Request Energy Update.

But how would I do this in a python file?

i.e.
indigo.device.statusRequest(dev_id)

I can't seem to figure out how to trigger a energy update to my ZW095 anyway in code.

thanks!
