Re: Fibaro Roller Shutter 2 Device Definition

I think you have 2 different problems Dtmr.

- The syncing problems
- And the FGR-223 device definition in Indigo

It's indeed strange that the description of the first (head) device of the FGR-223 is an energy meter. That's simply not good.
Same problem here.
We have not connected it at the moment at the new awning, so we couldn't test it (we do hear the click of the relay when we switch On and Off the Device "Shutter Position")
but the sync was very fast and we haven't had any sync problems .
See log below.
Could you exclude and include one of the FGR-223's again?

Code: Select all

Re: Fibaro Roller Shutter 2 Device Definition

PS: and we are using when adding the Device to network: with Encryption Disabled,
And have you edit again the Device settings into the "Energy Meter" settings?

Re: Fibaro Roller Shutter 2 Device Definition

Although having the Energy Meter device listed independently (and as the first device) isn't ideal, it is how this device needs to be defined since it sends the power/energy report commands using a different endpoint than the shutter commands. Does the Energy Meter device work and show power / energy used by the shutter correctly? Based on the manual it is my understanding it supports reporting both.

The errors with the module that completes its sync might be because of the new definition Indigo added. Try excluding the module, re-including, and re-syncing then see if you get the same errors when you try to control it. If you do, then copy/paste the Event Log results of everything: re-include, the re-sync, and the errors that occur when you try to control it.

I believe John is correct about the encryption inclusion causing issues with your sync – excluding and re-including without encryption will probably fix that problem and the sync will be able to complete.

Re: Fibaro Roller Shutter 2 Device Definition

Hey,
Thanks for the support.

Status update:
- Inclusion with encryption: FGR-223 is not working (sync works but response on all commands is "not suppoted")
- Inclusion without encytion: FGR-223 works like as expected.

Maybe you can call me geek but if there is an encrypted protocol available I would like to use it :-)
Any chance?

Re: Fibaro Roller Shutter 2 Device Definition

Did you exclude the module first, then add it with encryption (using Indigo's option to include with encryption in the device dialog)? If you didn't exclude it first that may explain the problem.

The module also may not support S0 encryption (it may only support the newer S2) which is the only encryption Indigo supports. We are looking into S2 but it is a huge undertaking so isn't on the short term radar yet.

Lastly, we encourage not using encryption unless you need it for that specific module. Using encryption significantly increases both the complexity of the protocol and the number of commands that have to be sent/received, which increases network congestion and the likelihood of collisions or other gremlins. Additionally module/firmware support for encryption can be more buggy. It tends to work well with the locks since those only work with encryption (and thus the manufacturer does all of their QA with encryption enabled), but other modules can have lots of buglets.

Re: Fibaro Roller Shutter 2 Device Definition

Yet, excluded first, then tried with encryption which didn't work.
Excluded again, then included without encryption and it was working.

In Indigo 7.4, it was working with encryption. However, only as a standard device which was working for me since I just need up/down (the motor logic is in the shutter).
Like I said, if there is an option to encrypt communication that would be my preference even though it's just a shutter :D

I understand from your comments that I should put the devices in the wall again and it doesn't make sense to keep them hanging out until the encryption is working 8)

In case, I can provide you with further details/logs, please let me know.

Re: Fibaro Roller Shutter 2 Device Definition

If it was working in 7.4 with encryption it should definitely still work in 7.5. Can you exclude, re-include with encryption, re-sync, then try to control it again? Copy/paste the Event Log showing all those steps into a reply for me and I'll look into it.

From the manual:
"Supports Z-Wave network Security Modes: S0 with AES-128 encryption and S2 Authenticated with PRnG-based encryption"

Re: Fibaro Roller Shutter 2 Device Definition

Thank you for the Event Log details on the sync. I've identified the problem and will work on the fix for a future version of Indigo.

Perfect.

I assume that update will not be available in the next coupe of days?!
Hence, I will sync all 4 controller unencrypted for the time being.

Re: Fibaro Roller Shutter 2 Device Definition

Correct. For now don't use encryption with those modules.

Re: Fibaro Roller Shutter 3 Device Definition

Matt, is it possible to add also the default brightness level at the Fibaro modules?
Now, when the Roller Shutter (or another Fibaro Dimmer Device) goes on, it goes to the last brightness level and that's sometimes not handy.

Like the HUE's:

Re: Fibaro Roller Shutter 2 Device Definition

That is an interesting feature request. Currently Indigo just sends the generic ON command that tells most multi-level modules to return to their previous ON level (which I believe is the desired behavior for most dimmers in most cases, but I can definitely see how that may not be as desirable for shutters/blinds). There are some modules that have a configuration parameter to override that behavior and always go to a specific level. I don't believe those Fibaro modules have a parameter like that but I could be mistaken. That said, this is obviously a behavior we could add into Indigo to all dimmers, like how the Hue device or plugin works. I'll add that to the feature request list as I don't believe it is currently on there. Thanks for the suggestion.
