What is that supposed to mean? Replacing Windows Sensor...

Hi,

I hope anbody has an idea about my problem.
I have about 13 Fibaro Door/windows sensores in my installation.
Unfortunately one of them died (device 73) and I am trying to replace it.
Since Fibaro has updated their sensors from zwave to zwave-plus I am forced to buy a new model.

So I try to edit the device which has failed and do a define/sync.
Then I included the sensor with "new without encyption" which went ok giving me a new device 136
When I try to sync that device 136 I get an error message which confuses me:

Devices "Window1 - Tamper Switch, Window1 - Temperature" are currently referenced by other objects, so the sync cannot be performed. Right-click on the devices in the main window and choose the Show Dependencies menu to find the references, then modify those objects to not reference the device and re-sync this device again.:

How should I defreference an included device from another? What am I doing wrong or is this a bug.
I already have replaced sensors earlier, but they where both the same generation.
Please help, thanks
Wilhelm

Oh, I see: Indigo doesn't seem to recognize the new windows sensor as it only adds a "notification sensor" no tamper switch and no temperature sensor.
What to do?

What is the specific model of the new one you purchased?

Re: What is that supposed to mean? Replacing Windows Sensor.

The label on the package says

Door/Window Sensor2
FDGW-002 ZW5 v3.2

I suppose the whole problem is my fault, because it seems you have added this device to 7.1 and I still didn't install the update.
Thanks

Yes, we added that one to 7.1.

Hi Matt,

as you (might) know, I still struggle with your online activation policy. That's why I didn't update and I still hesitate ...

What about AppleScript. Will this still work with the update 7.1?
Are there any other obstacles I would have to think about?

For me the decision still has to be made: Return the new sensor and freeze indigo or not?

Thanks for your input.

AppleScript works in 7.1. Nothing was deprecated or removed in 7.1.

You could try to create Triggers to catch the raw Z-Wave commands for the module. I'd recommend just updating to 7.1, of course.

Indigo 7.1 Release Notes. Nothing in there about anything deprecated or removed.

My little used Zwave Sensor plugin *might* help you here.

I've not touched it for months so not sure but the clue is in the name.

Re: What is that supposed to mean? Replacing Windows Sensor.

Hi, I just installed one of these to monitor my back gate and I noticed this in my log - looking at the directions that came with it it does not look like I can change the temperature measurement from Celsius to Fahrenheit (which I would like to do) - so wondering what it changed from in the message below?

Also confused about what and when it will send a temperature report (I did install the DS1820 before inclusion) - I must disassemble part of my fence to swap batteries so I don't want it to report too often - what value do I enter to have it just report when it wakes up ~once an hour for the battery check - do I put in 255 or something else, default was 8?

Thanks for any help in advance....

Code: Select all
Jun 28, 2018, 11:07:15 AM
   Z-Wave                          received "Back Gate 045 - Temperature 1" sensor update to 24.50 °C
   Z-Wave                          received "Back Gate 045 - Temperature 1" units changed to °C

PS. I used old plastic bottle to make a water tight enclosure for it....

50: 0
51: 0
52: 3600

All are 2 byte values.

That’s a temperature report hourly.

What are those - can't be parameters - this z wave stuff is very confusing to me :-(

They are parameters.

Parameter 50, size 2, value 0
Etc

Hi norcoscia,

You are right. The Configuration of those sensors is really poorly supported by Indigo. Normally I would expect them do be integrated into the user interface...

The parameters howardp sent you are only valid for firmware 3.2 . You will first have to find out, which firmware your sensor has.
You will find the manual for the sensor here: https://manuals.fibaro.com/door-window-sensor/

To configure those sensors apart from what is default, you have to use the z-wave/Modify Configuration

Normally the sensor would send data, when there is a temperature change.
In Firmwares < 3.2 this is parameter 12 and it's the one that would also change from Celsius to Fahrenheit

Cheers
Wilhelm
