Question on using Z-Wave raw packet trigger

Hi, I just put a Dome Z-Wave mouser in my crawlspace - there is no way to trigger the trap (that I can see, and I did not want to dead short it).

I have set up a trigger (photo below), the configuration for an event is also pictured below - does anyone know if my packet match will work?

Thank you for any help in advance.

Re: Question on using Z-Wave raw packet trigger

Based on the docs you provided, yes it will work.

I’m dubious that their docs are quite right though. The format doesn’t quite ring true with me.

I’ll double-check later.

Re: Question on using Z-Wave raw packet trigger

Thanks guys. I hope it works I don’t want to go into my crawl space every day to check a trap and I worry a mouse will chew through my PEX water main line.

Re: Question on using Z-Wave raw packet trigger

Using the Match Raw Packet should work, but I think your Match Bytes isn't correct. Based on the documentation posted, you will want this for the trap triggered:

* 0x71 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00 0xFF 0x13 0x08 *

And this if you want to match the trap removed/cleared:

* 0x71 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00 0xFF 0x13 0x00 *

You can also catch if the trap was armed and disarmed (which should be easier to test). Armed:

* 0x71 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00 0xFF 0x13 0x02 *

Disarmed:

* 0x71 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00 0xFF 0x13 0x04 *

Re: Question on using Z-Wave raw packet trigger

Thanks Matt, that’s where I was heading, just didn’t get to my desk in time.

Norcosia, theoretically the only difference is that your docs only give the value part of the command, but you need to match on the whole length of the command. You/they could achieve it with another 8 ?’s before what they propose, but the right way is * 71 05 as Matt says.

Re: Question on using Z-Wave raw packet trigger

Thanks Matt, that is really helpful - as soon as my wife wakes up I'll do some testing with it - the good part is the mouser found the network and is reporting its battery value - so this should get it working great.

Thanks howarth - they were on sale recently so I figured I would take a change - fingers crossed....

I don't like the idea of killing the poor mouse but I cant afford a flood - I think going the poison route is worse and some other animal might eat a dead poisoned mouse (like a stray cat or bird).

Anyway - thanks again to both of you for the help...

Question on using Z-Wave raw packet trigger

Hi,

You could try my Z-wave event and alarm listener plugin. It’s made for making triggers on z-wave notifications/events and should support all types. You’ll find it in the plugin store

Edit: The 0x13 notification type is not standard z-wave and therefore not included in the plugin. But it can easily be added, just add some lines to the csv file you’ll find within the z-wave folder within the plugin

Thanks for the link. You're right, I was looking at an older Sigma document. Then I'll just get these latest notification types included in the plugin.
