Visual LED indication of relay status

Hi all,
Separating this out from my lock thread as may be useful to others and hopefully someone can assist!

I have a qubino relay wired in with 24v controlling an electronic door latch,

I have a switch wired in to ‘latch’ the door lock which we do whenever we are in the house in the daytime to ease opening to let cats out of the front door and general coming in and out,

What I want is to have a very clear visual indication of the lock status on the switch,

So I’m thinking of whether I could wire in a 24v led in series with the door latch. If I’m understanding correctly when I turn the relay ‘on’ power is applied and the door unlatches.

So as I only want to indicate when its on the latch an led like this one in series should work?!?!

Can anyone confirm my logic? Especially interested if anyone has done anything similar

So LED arrived, tried it in series, LED lights up when relay triggered but main load, latch, doesn’t release.

Assuming therefore that the led takes all the power not leaving enough to continue to power the latch.

My electric circuit knowledge is rusty so not sure if this is correct.

Any advice on if there is a way to wire this would be appreciated, struggling to right advice on google.

Realised that the proper way to wire this is in parallel from the relay so will give that a shot later on
