Re: Black Cat (by Philio) Dual In-Wall Relay Status Issue

I'm a bit confused. On your spreadsheet you have columns for R1, R2, and R2. Which one of those is the first device shown in the tabbed devices dialog ("Both Relays")? Do you really mean:

R1 is R1+R2
R2 is R1 Only
R3 is R2 Only

Re: Black Cat (by Philio) Dual In-Wall Relay Status Issue

Apologies for my “short hand”.
R1 and R2 are the two physical switches as marked on the device and shown in the Indigo UI.
R3 is the “Both Relays” device shown in the Indigo UI

Definitely not so simples, eh??!!

Re: Black Cat (by Philio) Dual In-Wall Relay Status Issue

Was any of that data meaningful? Or should I abandon these devices?

Just haven't had time to investigate it in detail yet.

Re: Black Cat (by Philio) Dual In-Wall Relay Status Issue

Indigo 7.3 (and 7.3.1) are now available and should improve the problems reported above for the Black Cat Double Relay Module (ZWBCL2).

Thanks, Matt.

Working just fine on the bench.

Re: Black Cat (by Philio) Dual In-Wall Relay Status Issue

After a long time since I last used one of these devices, I dug one out for an application where I want to use the S1 and S2 inputs to control and/or monitor. It appears that these inputs will operate the relay, but will not report back to Indigo, unless I poll them. Is there anything obvious (like a parameter change) that might rectify this issue? This is what Indigo reports about the device:
Z-Wave Indigo Device "086 - Both Relays" Z-Wave Properties:

Re: Black Cat (by Philio) Dual In-Wall Relay Status Issue

On returning to this device with a little more time than usual (!), I have discovered that the S1 and S2 inputs will operate the individual relays, but the relay reports back "globally" that the overall device is on ie operation of either relay will report that the device is on.

My workaround in this instance is a trigger that on receipt of the global "relay on" report will update the status of each of the individual relays. Not ideal, but I guess it allows use of these devices as required!

Re: Black Cat (by Philio) Dual In-Wall Relay Status Issue

Turn on Zwave debug or put a Zwave Watcher on it, then operate both inputs on/off a few times, and post log here.

Re: Black Cat (by Philio) Dual In-Wall Relay Status Issue

Thanks for your offer, and apologies for delayed reply - it's been a holiday weekend here!!

The Black Cat relay presents as three devices "Black Cat" (home or principal device), "Relay 1" and "Relay 2". The manual can be found here:

Here's the ZWave Watcher logs for operation of the device:

Re: Black Cat (by Philio) Dual In-Wall Relay Status Issue

Hi.

Can you check what associations are set on the device?

Indigo > Interfaces > Zwave > Manage associations

Select node 10 then see what nodes are associated to groups 1, 2 and 3.

I suspect you only have Indigo (node 1) associated to group 1, and nothing associated to groups 2 and 3.

You'll need to associate Indigo (node 1) to groups 2 and 3, then repeat the above tests.

Your device is sending "On" if any relay is on, or "Off" if both are off, to group 1 (Indigo).
It additionally sends "Relay 1 is On/Off" to group 2 (currently nobody) and "Relay 2 is On/Off" to group 3 (currently nobody).

Once you add associations for groups 2 and 3, Indigo will then receive those separate relay on/off status updates - and we can then see if Matt/Jay have programmed it to intercept them or whether they have further work to do.

Re: Black Cat (by Philio) Dual In-Wall Relay Status Issue

Hi Peter!

Thanks for your advice, and apologies for the slow reply - I've been away from the house and haven't been able to check until now.

Indigo has been associated with all three groups. But just to check, I re-associated each group and then performed a re-synch. This is what was logged:

Code: Select all
Syncing - started for "010 -Black Cat"
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved module neighbors list: 1, 7, 9
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - assigning return route to "010 - 010 -Black Cat"
Z-Wave                          Syncing - assigned return route
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved manufacture and model names: Philio - 013C, Double Relay Module (ZWBCL2) - 00010013
Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved protocol version 3.95, app version 1.08
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved class hierarchy: Routing Slave : Relay Switch : Relay Power Switch (04 : 10 : 01, base 25)
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved command classes: 20v1 60v3 25v1 86v1 27v1 2Bv1 2Cv1 70v1 71v1 72v1 73v1 75v1 59v1 5Av1 7Av1 5Ev1 85v1
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved encrypt commands: - none -
Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved capabilities: routing, beaming
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved multi-endpoint types: 1:(10 : 01), 2:(10 : 01), 3:(10 : 01)
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved multi-endpoint classes: 1:[25 20], 2:[25 20], 3:[25 20]
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved group 1 associations: [1]
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved group 2 associations: [1]
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved group 3 associations: [1]
Z-Wave                          Syncing - group 1 association to interface already exists (skipping)
Z-Wave                          Syncing - group 2 association to interface already exists (skipping)
Z-Wave                          Syncing - group 3 association to interface already exists (skipping)
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - complete
Z-Wave                          sent "010 -Black Cat" status request
   Z-Wave                          sent "010 - Relay 1" status request
   Z-Wave                          sent "010 - Relay 2" status request

Note that a status request (sent manually) will retrieve the correct status of R1 and R2.

Any further help appreciated - otherwise I'll opt for another brand of dual relay!!

Thanks again,

Mclas

Out of interest can you check the value of parameters 1 and 6?

And what us polling set to?

Re: Black Cat (by Philio) Dual In-Wall Relay Status Issue

Out of interest can you check the value of parameters 1 and 6?

All parameters are set to defaults, with:
Parameter 1 = 3 (Relays 1 & 2)
Parameter 6 = 1 (Endpoint 3 exists)

And what us polling set to?

Polling is set to "Only when activity is detected" . I had previously trialed "As often as possible". That worked but was slow in detecting changes, and sloooowed the whole system down!
