Hi Pete,

I added 2 of these devices over the weekend and noticed that on first sync the model wasn't recognised. Once I did a resync it was then recognised as the correct model. One issue I haven't sorted yet is the fact I don't get status update in Indigo when the wall switch is used for S2. S1 works perfectly. Can you try a resync and also see if you can get status from S2 when switched locally?

Hi Colly,

I've got a couple of these modules with Model ID: 0203300A which I've had for a while and work fine (both switches report their correct state). The model ID I posted above is 02033000. I synced it again as you suggested but it's still not recognised. I suspect that Indigo is missing the definition. Matt or Jay can hopefully confirm one way or the other.

As a matter of interest, what are the device IDs of your modules?

I was actually installing these at my friends house over the weekend and we've only connected one light to each of the two FGS223 we were working with. Unfortunately I can't confirm the second switch issue you mentioned. As soon as we have I'll report back.

Also for Matt/Jay - anything that I can do to get S2 status to update when switched by the wall switch? I have an older one, FGS222, which works perfectly.

I'll get the unknown model ID added to the next bug release build of Indigo (7.0.4).

For S2 updating, try manually adding associations for group #4 back to Indigo (Z-Wave Controller). If that doesn't work try group #5. Also turn on debug logging (via the Interfaces->Z-Wave->Configure... menu item) and capture what is shown when both S1 and S2 are controlled at the switch.

The event log for S2 isn't what I was expecting. Can you try the following:

1) Remove all association groups from the module that point back to the Z-Wave Controller.
2) Add back the association for group #1.
3) Toggle both S1 and S2 a 3 times, and copy/paste the Event Log results of each (independently so we know what log goes with what button toggle).
4) Remove association group #1, add association group #2.
5) Toggle both S1 and S2 a 3 times, and copy/paste the Event Log result of each (independently so we know what log goes with what button toggle).
...continue the same process for each association group up to #5

I'm hoping that the Event Log for one of those for S2 doesn't show an "endpoint None" as that is the best way for Indigo to differentiate between the different buttons.

Matt,

See attached file. I removed all associations and then added the controller back to group 1.
As requested I then copied 3 * S1 On and 3*S1 Off - I got as far as completing this for group 1 & 2, these are in the file. For S2 operations I am not getting anything in the log for group 1 & 2. I will continue with this and post results unless you think there is no point..

I did some more research on this. There are dozens and dozens of pages of forum/support posts about problems with the newer firmware versions of the FGS223 on other home automation platforms / hubs. Misery loves company I guess?

It looks like they changed the behavior of when the module sends out the endpoint encapsulated commands which are required for differentiating between S1 and S2. We might be able to work around this:

1) First, remove all associations (1 to 5) the module has back to the Z-Wave controller (if any) via the Z-Wave->Manage Associations dialog.

2) Next, use the Z-Wave->Send Raw Z-Wave Command menu command to send the following raw command to your FGS223:

0x8E 0x01 0x01 0x00 0x01 0x01

3) Capture Event Log snippets of both S1 and S2 toggles.

4) If S1 and/or S2 aren't updating correctly in Indigo, then again use the Z-Wave->Send Raw Z-Wave Command menu command to send both of these commands:

0x8E 0x01 0x02 0x00 0x01 0x01
0x8E 0x01 0x04 0x00 0x01 0x01

and again capture Event Log snippets of both S1 and S2 toggles.

Ok, I have the same issue...

I can't manage to get an update on S2 if triggered manually. After a status request it is updated.

I removed all association from this switch, sent 0x8E 0x01 0x04 0x00 0x01 0x01 and resented. No luck...


Oh and when I remove all energy reporting by setting to 0, the log is flooded by this:

Just to follow-up, based on another thread it sounds like you did get it working after excluding it, re-including it, then removing the association and sending the raw command (0x8E 0x01 0x04 0x00 0x01 0x01). Is that correct?

We are looking at customizing the device definition for this module to automate sending that raw command during the sync process, but want to get verifications that does indeed get it working for you both.
