Zooz Smart Energy Power Strip?

Ran across this looking for something else. Not crucial for me, but I can imagine replacing the power strip under my bedside table with this and cleaning up some USB adapters as I do it.

Supported?

Re: Zooz Smart Energy Power Strip?

No one has reported trying it or submitted a device profile yet. I suspect it will need a device definition added to Indigo, although it is possible it will work out of the box without one.

Re: Zooz Smart Energy Power Strip?

I've considered buying one of them...but I'm torn thinking I might rather spend more for the Aeon Labs one and get energy consumption vs. USB ports.

Hard to say...if I break down and get one I'll submit info if no one else has yet.

Part of me thinks it might just work since it appears to be only 5 Z-wave switches vs the Aeon Labs with energy consumption. The Amazon reviews say this one doesn't have energy reporting.

Re: Zooz Smart Energy Power Strip?

As an update, Indigo shows the ZEN20 as five separate "Relay Switches" and allows for triggers and actions to each of the five, which is great.

Unless it's very close to the Z-Stick, I see a "no ack" error in Indigo.

Tried to delete and re-enroll. Also tried to optimize using Interface - Z-Wave - Optimize Z-Wave Network....
See the following in log:
Code: Select all
Z-Wave                          Optimizing - neighbor list update failed -- will try to update nearby neighbors first
Z-Wave                          Optimizing - no known neighbors found
   Z-Wave                          Optimizing - failed "049 - Relay Switch 1 PInball Machine Power"
   Z-Wave                          Optimizing - complete
Z-Wave Error                    Optimizing - update failed: "049 - Relay Switch 1 PInball Machine Power"

Pressing one of the ZEN20 power button three times (per instruction manual), then optimizing results in the following:
Code: Select all
Z-Wave                          Optimizing - started network optimization for nodes: 49
   Z-Wave                          Optimizing - starting "049 - Relay Switch 1 PInball Machine Power"
   Z-Wave                          Optimizing - ping failed
   Z-Wave                          Optimizing - finding neighbors
Z-Wave                          Optimizing - requesting neighbor list update

Z-Wave                          Optimizing - neighbor list update failed -- will try to update nearby neighbors first
Z-Wave                          Optimizing - no known neighbors found
   Z-Wave                          Optimizing - failed "049 - Relay Switch 1 PInball Machine Power"
   Z-Wave                          Optimizing - complete
Z-Wave Error                    Optimizing - update failed: "049 - Relay Switch 1 PInball Machine Power"

Any thoughts?

Re: Zooz Smart Energy Power Strip?

No, that is an odd failure to have unless the module truly isn't in range (maybe it isn't?). Do you have other Z-Wave modules near it and are those reachable?

Try excluding it from the Z-Stick and then re-including it. It will get a different node ID, so you'll need to select the new one before trying to re-sync in.

1. Yes. Several other Z wave modules in same room, which is very small. (Linear WD500Z, Aeon switch DSC06106-ZWUS, and multi sensor 6).
2. Will do ...

Seems to be working better. Thanks Matt. I also had the z-wave interface optimize it, which only worked on the ZEN20 by (nearly constantly) pressing one of the ZEN20 power buttons three times quickly. Otherwise, the optimization would fail in the log.

I have a Zooz ZEN20, but the Model ID is different from @eme jota ce's output:

Outlet-1 doesn't even show up on the UI after adding the device. Seems like outlets 2-5 are handled correctly, but also that the USB ports are showing up as outlet 6 and 7. Zooz doesn't support controlling those Outlets via Zwave, or at least not currently, as far as I can tell.

Any ideas on how to get Outlet-1 to show up?

Re: Zooz Smart Energy Power Strip?

Can you re-sync the module and post the Event Log result of that?

Also inside the device dialog how many tab/panels does it create, and what is the first one called? Does that first one not control anything or does it control the 2nd outlet (and then all the rest are also off by one)?

Re: Zooz Smart Energy Power Strip?

Hey Matt,

Good to hear from you. Hope all is well! :)

I just resync'd the device as is.. Did you want that, or did you need me to remove the device and add it back? Here's the output from the sync:

Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved module neighbors list: 2
Z-Wave Syncing - assigning return route to "015 - APS15_1"

The device dialogue shows 7 relay switches:

Relay Switch 1: powers ALL on/off
Relay Switch 2: powers on/off plug labeled "ch2" (second power plug)
Relay Switch 3: powers on/off plug labeled "ch3" (second power plug)
Relay Switch 4:powers on/off plug labeled "ch4" (second power plug)
Relay Switch 5: powers on/off plug labeled "ch5" (second power plug)
Relay Switch 6: no changes on power strip
Relay Switch 7:: no changes on power strip

Here's the event log when I hit power on/off for each relay device. Notice the status update reflects off when I send and "on" command to either relay outlet 6 or 7. I believe those are for the two USB plugs that are not integrated with Zwave on this device.

Re: Zooz Smart Energy Power Strip?

Matt,

Thanks for adding support for this device in 7.4. Two things:

1. I had no idea the USB ports might be z-wave controllable — will test this soon.
2. Unfortunately, I'm receiving the following error when periodically polling this device:

Code: Select all
Z-Wave Error                    device "XXX - USB Port 1" does not support status request command

Thoughts/suggestions? A resync has not resolved it.

Re: Zooz Smart Energy Power Strip?

Can you re-sync the device in Indigo then copy/paste the Event Log results into a reply for me?

Also, can you send the status request to all 8 devices Indigo created (individually) and include the Event Log results? I'm wondering if the problem is specific to the USB devices or not.
