Re: Z-Stick II Battery

I think it's more likely that i7 will be able to involk the inclusion/exclusion process without having to remove the z-stick from the host computer. Which would be nice as it's a pain in the backside having to climb into my loft every time i want to do something with a module.

While that would be wonderful, I'm not sure it's physically possible with the Z-wave specifications; it may be an absolute requirement that the controller be disconnected from external power and close enough to the module to be paired with to access it without relay and a physical button on the module pressed to initiate the inclusion process. I can see how EXCLUSION could occur through the mesh network (as long as you're careful to start with modules farthest away), but until the module has been INCLUDED, it can't communicate with it's neighbors.

I think more likley the ability to back up a z-stick and restore to a new one - call me a prophet (oh, and the president elect will be assassinated)

Re: Z-Stick II Battery

Indeed I've heard that can be an issue, but I've heard there are other modules that apparently don't have a button to include and it's all done from software. I guess we'll see!

Re: Z-Stick II Battery

Not Indigo hardware, but it might be easier to include modules in the Z-Stick without removing it from the Mac at some point.

And who gave Jay access to the Internet? I thought we cut off access to the coding sweatshop weeks ago. He must be wifi tethering via mobile again... going to have to do another sweep and confiscate contraband I see.

It's called Network Wide Inclusion (NWI) and it's part of the Z-Wave spec... ;)

Re: Z-Stick II Battery

Have to say i'm loving this new inclusion without removing process. Of course you know what i'm gonna say next..... WISHLIST!

I've created some action groups to start/stop the process from indigo touch but what would be REALLY handy would be the ability for it to tell you that something has been included. I particularly find Qubino modules funny when trying to include and without getting the flashing on my z-sticks LED it's difficult to know when its been added.

Re: Z-Stick II Battery

I suspect (?) you could have a ZWave trigger on an incoming command to identify this - what does ZWave debug log show when you include?

Re: Z-Stick II Battery

I'll have a lookie but it wouldn't solve the UI feedback issue of having it all in one place. I suppose I could setup a pushover device to send confirmation it's been paired though... :)

Re: Z-Stick II Battery

The battery on my MacBook Pro is worse than the battery in my z stick. :(
