Basic functionality should work in Indigo 6. More complete support (for all Aeotec gen5 modules) is a high priority for Indigo 7.

Matt, by basic functionality, do you mean On/Off/Dim should all work? I'd like to control this with the Cooper RF9500, which you do support, either through an association, or more likely, by using the "match brightness" function. The match brightness function worked very well to keep my Cooper 9540 master dimmer and 9542 accessory dimmer in sync with one another and seems like it would also be good for this application.

Correct: on/off and setting brightness should work.

Re: Aeon Labs Z-Wave Plus Smart Dimmer 6 - ZW099-ZWUS

Just added in the smart dimmer 6 and unfortunately, it doesn't recognize the model (Unknown) and it acts like a switch, not a dimmer. I can control ON and OFF, but not BRIGHTNESS at all.

Re: Aeon Labs Z-Wave Plus Smart Dimmer 6 - ZW099-ZWUS

So there is no dimmer slider visible in the Main Window UI for it (but there is Turn On and Turn Off buttons)?

I just tried it with mine on Indigo 6.1 and while Indigo doesn't recognize it because there is no device definition, it does allow basic on/off and brightness control. It also creates 2 devices for it, but the first one controls the main load plugged into the module. It'll definitely work better in Indigo 7 but I'm hoping that basic functionality will work for you in 6.1.

If the dimmer slider isn't showing at all, then re-run the sync process in Indigo and copy/paste the Event Log results into a reply for me. I'll then compare that to how mine sync'd.

I just get a single relay power switch device that controls On and Off, but no second device with a slider. Here's the log below.

Re: Aeon Labs Z-Wave Plus Smart Dimmer 6 - ZW099-ZWUS

Are you sure that module is the Smart Dimmer 6 and not the Smart Switch 6? I have both and the one that identifies with the same model ID you have in your Event Log (01030060) is the Smart Switch 6. It has a relay (not a triac) and isn't dimmable.

When you turn it OFF and ON is there an audible click noise?

Problem solved (well, to be more accurate, one problem solved switched for another). Apparently received the wrong device. So I now know why its not working as expected, though I'll have to see about a return/exchange. Sorry for the waste of time...

Re: Aeon Labs Z-Wave Plus Smart Dimmer 6 - ZW099-ZWUS

No problem, and while troubleshooting I did indeed test my Smart Dimmer 6 against Indigo 6.1 and it was controllable (including brightness). So once you get the correct device it should work.

Re: Aeon Labs Z-Wave Plus Smart Dimmer 6 - ZW099-ZWUS

I've had two of these devices fail at the relay -- luckily both in the on position. It doesn't look like Aeotec is even carrying the Smart Dimmer line any more (at least for North America) and only shipping the Smart Switch 7 (no dimming). Not sure I would even replace them with more Aeotec units given my experience.

There's not a lot of options out there at the moment for plug-in dimmers and I'm going to try a Minoston (MP21ZD) unit and see how that goes. A bonus is that they're 50% less than the Smart Switch 7. The Minoston dimmer doesn't have energy monitoring, but I can live with that.

I came here to drink milk and kick ass....and I've just finished my milk.
