Re: Qubino dual relay module

I excluded / included on device, and did a few on-off's on the light switch after it was re-included. See the log below. The on/off status was not changed in the user interface. The device is called:

Re: Qubino dual relay module

Use the Interfaces->Z-Wave->Manage Associations... menu item to manually remove the association from the Qubino ZMNHBD to the Z-Stick (Indigo) for associations #1 and #8. Next, with debug logging still enabled, re-sync the device again and copy/paste the Event Log results into a reply for me. Also manually control the module at the switch and include those results. Does it work after the re-sync?

I did some OnOff's and when I do it from the user interface I can see something in the log-file, but when the switch is turned OnOff nothing seems to happen.

I took one of my Qubino 1-relays and turned the switch OnOff and then the log looks as below. It's updated ok in the UI, so no issues with the device, just a reference.

Ok, I went ahead and did the hardcore exclusion reset as suggested by CrazyFin and autolog.
The exclusion went as described, but getting the device back into Indigo wasn't as smooth as I'd hoped.

Anyway, I turned on debugging, and did not see anything appear in the log, which is odd... but after a few minutes of toggling the actual switch, suddenly a small portion popped into the log.
Is this normal ?

BTW my device is one off the earlier models, firmware 1.01 (but I do see 8 associations inside the device settings...)

It looks like this older firmware (1.01) version isn't wanting to send out the state changes for some reason. Try using the Interfaces->Z-Wave->Manage Associations... menu item to manually add the association from the Qubino ZMNHBD to the Z-Stick (Indigo) for associations #2 and #6. What does the debug logging output look like then when you manually control the switches?

It is indeed strange.
However, with the previous Indigo version, I am certain that I got immediate messages in the debug log (see my earlier posts in this thread).

Adding the associations for #2 and #6 does improve things.
Now I see debug messages now when I toggle I1 at the switch.
However, I do not see any messages when I toggle I2 at the switch.

I've been in contact directly with GOAP, parent company of Qubino, recently about all of our woes with integrating the devices in to our HA systems. While they initially dismissed my requests to upgrade firmware and links that this was related to the problems I've had they finally agreed that I can return my modules directly to them. Seemingly the normal process is that the modules should be returned direct to the supplier and then back to them but we've agreed to bypass it this time. For my sins I've 9 of these modules so I'll be returning them in two batches for firmware updates. I will post an update when I've got them back and reintegrated.

Here's hoping!

Cool that Qubino / GOP is offering you a firmware upgrade!

I have had good experience with Qubino when directly showing them that it is a firmware issue with other of their devices. They have offered me firmware upgrades but I had to pay shipping to them and back from them. In my case it was their flush-dimmer (non-Gen5-version) that did not work properly due to a firmware bug but after firmware upgrade they worked fine.

If you have not shipped away your ZMNHBDx flush dual relays yet, can you please look on the back of the devices what version number it says?
Mine has H1S5P1. I am not sure but I think S5 means some kind of firmware version. I can see that the S5 used to be S1 and then overwritten manually by some engineer at Qubino with a pen to a S3 and then that S3 has been crossed over and someone has written S5 below S3 so my units full part number is ZMNHBD1 H1S5P1.

First I thought that S5 would mean firmware 1.05 but when I look in my Indigo dev environment where I test these devices I can see in the model ID under "Edit Device Settings" the following:
"Flush 2 Micro Relay (ZMNHBD), firmware 1.02" so all my ZMNHBDx devices have firmware 1.02 and are marked H1S5P1 and have 8 association groups

All my devices works fine in Indigo BUT when I change state of relay 1 or relay 2 via input 1 and 2 on the device itself it takes 3-5 seconds before the state change is updated in Indigo. This is not Indigos fault but rather a bad (?) firmware behaviour by the device itself. I see same thing when testing the device with other platforms like OZWCP (Open-ZWave-Control-Panel).

All my devices are V1.01. The biggest issue for me is that the lights will switch back on after either a command from Indigo or from the local switch. In some cases it will turn back on 4-5 times after switching it off each time. I've also noticed that one of my modules works more reliably when the toggle switch is in the "On" position as in the supply from the switch to I1 is live - can't figure that one out.. These two issues are the main reason I felt I needed to get in touch with the manufacturer in an attempt to resolve. In general I've been happy with the dimmers and the 1 Relay modules. Although I recently purchased a Fibaro dual relay and the fact it operated correctly straight away has convinced me to steer away from Qubino for the dual relays at least.

Yepp most likely it is the firmware 1.01 that you have on your devices that is causing the issues.
All my ZMNHBDx devices has firmware 1.02 and are working fine (except for the 3-5 second delay of updating state changes to the controller when controlling the device via input I1 and/or I2).

Can you please check what your config values are for parameter no 11 to 15 and post them here?

Have you tested the stability issues you mention by using a monostable switch instead of a bi-stable switch by setting param 1 and 2 to 0? I am using mono-stable switches and have not seen those kind of stability issues of the output state that you mention above.

Anyway, I guess your problems will disappear when you get them upgraded to latest firmware. Can you please post here when you receive the first batch back to you so that we can see if Qubino has a newer firmware than 1.02 that I have on my devices.

I see two possible causes for the device you mention works better with I1 on (and connected to live 230VAC):
1. Device is internally broken in the circuitry
2. Erroneously connections of the wires to the device

You should send in that device in your first firmware upgrade batch and see if they just replace the device or actually firmware upgrade it. I see on some of my devices that has been sent into Qubino that I actually received new (or refurbished) devices back instead of the original one I did send in.

(I do most of my device testings on my lab bench with a 24VDC power supply and 24VDC lamps connected which is far less dangerous than experimenting with 230VAC... It would be good if you could test your devices that way too.)

I agree that Colly is seeing some weird stuff that might indicate a defective device, I am however confident that Matt will get this sorted, no matter what the firmware version is.

The reason I am sure that it will work is that Indigo DOES reflect the correct on/off state when I poll the device.
I'd rather not set my polling to "as often as possible" (and the other options are useless imo), so I just wait patiently untill Matt comes up with something to test.


edit : I have a temporary workaround in place, there is a PIR that I pass every time I have operated the qubino switch, so I've set up a trigger for the PIR to request a full status update of the qubino every time the PIR is triggered. This updates the Indigo interface to the correct on/off state of the qubino.
