Back-up of Aeon Labs Z-Stick Gen 5

Hey Folks,

A back-up of Indigo is quit easy. But...how about back-ups of the Z-Stick itself? What to do when changing the stick because of a newer version or the old one crashed?

- Do I have to include all devices again?
- How do I link the new included devices with existing triggers, schedules, etc.?
- Is the device-ID always assigned differently with a new stick?

Best regards,
Marcus

Now it is much clearer. However, how does Indigo handle the new device ID's for the same device? Triggers and co are referring to the device ID's, aren't they? And they will change using a new stick, won't they?

Indigo's internal device ID, which is used to link schedules/triggers/actions/etc with target devices, are independent of the Z-Wave node ID (or INSTEON address). So as long as you don't delete the device itself when replacing the module, all the internals in Indigo will continue to work. You could, for example, even replace an INSTEON thermostat with a Z-Wave thermostat and have all your actions/triggers/etc. work without issues.

Wow matt, that's cool :D

It took home time to get started with all the home automation stuff. I am surprised in a positive sense, though. Indigo and z-wave is an easy and quite powerful combination :!:
