Fibaro Dimmer 2

Hi,

I've got several of the new Fibaro Dimmer 2 Z-Wave modules:

http://www.fibaro.com/files/presentation_dimmer2.pdf

The unit is very similar to the original Fibaro Dimmer but reports energy usage and some of the parameters have changed.

Is it possible to get a template set up for this for Indigo? Currently it just reports it as a "Multi Level Switch" with 2 endpoints (even though the Dimmer 2 only has 1).

Thanks!

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2

Please can you:

a) Submit a device definition by using the button in the device's config.

b) Do a 'define & sync' operation, and copy the results from the event log into here.

Matt & Jay will pick them up and add to their list.

Have you got the define & sync log to paste in this thread?

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2

Hi,

With the release of the Fibaro Dimmer v2, availability of the original dimmer is reducing rapidly. Is there an update on when Indigo will support the Fibaro Dimmer v2 as of right now, I'm not able to add any more dimmers in to my home :(

Thanks,

Jeremy.

+1 but I thought the Dimmer 2 worked OK (with dimmer v1 functionality).

Which functions are missing? I have the Dimmer 2 included in my Indigo setup and I get power metering from the device which would be the main new function compared to v1? Or what else is there?

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2

When you edit the device settings for this dimmer, none of the parameters are available.
So you cannot edit those settings.
Unless you use "Modify Configuration Parameter" from the Interface > Z-Wave menu, but then you have to be very careful because Indigo won't validate what you're doing with the parameters.

That is correct, it is more of a GUI feature missing. I use the "Modify Configuration Parameter" and it works fine. A tip is to request the current value from the device before changing the parameter to verify that you get the expected result. Not the same as having the parameters in descriptive text, but still...

From my point of view, this lack of function isn't stopping me from buying the Dimmer 2 though. You just have to read the manual carefully before changing the parameters.

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2

Thanks guys! Didn't appreciate it was supported by the v1 implementation. Good to know. I guess a re-sync is all that will be required when the final full support is released.

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2

I was going to say the same thing, Dimmer v2 works as expected, only issue is the lack of parameters on the UI which is not a big deal.
