Re: Aeon Z-stick Gen5

I did it this way.

1. Excluded the devices by holding the button on the gen5 stick to enter exclude mode - then clicking the fibaro 3 times
2. Included the device to the new stick as normal
3. Inserted the gen5 stick in my Indigo server and mapping all devices inside Indigo by using "define and sync"

I didn't do anything with the old stick. Just removed it.

Just one "warning" - this method deleted all associations and zwave parameters on the devices. I had to re-enter all config parameters for my fibaro's :(
Parameters like "auto off" - toggle or bi-stable" etc...

Re: Aeon Z-stick Gen5

Got the NorthQ Power meter working again. Had to create a new device for it and stort over. Seems like it didn't like the "define and sync".
Now it is reading the usage again. Now I just have to import all my old readings from the old device table in the postgresql db...

Re: Aeon Z-stick Gen5

Just received my new Z-stick gen5, but what is PA mode?

Power Supply: USB DC 4.75V to 5.25V
or built-in rechargeable lithium battery
3.7V, 100mAh.
Max Standby Current: 30uA.
Max Operating Current: 98mA in PA
mode
or 40mA in normal mode.
Operating Temperature: 0 to 50 .
Storage Temperature: -20 to 70 .
Operating Distance: Up to 500 feet/150
metres outdoors in normal mode or
1310 feet/400 metres outdoors in PA
mode
.

Re: Aeon Z-stick Gen5

Got the answer from Aeotec.

PA stands for Power Amplifier, and the Z-stick uses this mode when it is connected to a USB port to work at max RF gain and reach (i.e. up to 1310 feet/400 meters outdoors...in theory).

The software for backup and the IMA tool will probably be released during next month.

Yey - I guessed right, but didn't have a clue why! :-)

Re: Aeon Z-stick Gen5

When installed on the mac- is the gen5 z-stick supposed to cycle through red-blue-yellow? It just doesn't look right.. I'm trying to move up from the old black z-stick, and I'm trying to connect a gen5 multi sensor. I haven't figured out what I'm doing wrong- but the multi sensor just gives me a single device in indigo, and it has no sensor data except battery level.

Yes, the gen5 z-stick behaves that way.
I believe that the new multisensor isn't fully supported in Indigo yet.

Re: Aeon Z-stick Gen5

Oh OK, thanks Peter!

I might just send the gen5 stick back then. I don't think it's buying me anything and the old one at least would work in a usb hub. What I really wanted to have was an updated multisensor. I had an old sensor that started confusing temp and luminosity, so I replaced it with another- but it reads 3 degrees low at night but is relatively accurate during the day. I had higher hopes for the gen 5.

We've had a couple of reports (maybe 2 or 3) of this type of problem. In general it means the USB device is marginal and needs to be replaced.

I also have the gen 5 Z-Stick and have had no problems with it.

From your experience, do you think that a now working Z-stick can eventually get this problem?

Re: Aeon Z-stick Gen5

I only realised the other night, in my efforts to have a stable system I put off upgrading to Yosemite so long that I never did it. Upgraded yesterday and the issue seems to be resolved. It rebooted overnight with the 10.10.4 update installation and all came back up fine
