Yosemite driver for Z-Stick

Contrary to the information in http://forums.indigodomo.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12842, I have no problems running the Aeotec Z-Stick with Indigo 6 under Yosemite. The trick: I installed the latest drivers directly from Silicon Labs: https://community.silabs.com/t5/Interface/OS-X-10-10-CP210x-VCP-Driver-Release-Candidate/m-p/138472. These drivers installed with zero problems, and everything is running smoothly for my new Indigo 6 system.

Re: Yosemite driver for Z-Stick

I updated the Z-Stick driver about a week ago and have noticed no changes, good or bad. The system is stable. For reference: Mac OS 10.10.1, Indigo 6.0.20.

Re: Yosemite driver for Z-Stick

I've been holding back from Yosemite upgrade based upon Jay and Matt's post here: Yosemite Announcement

Yosemite has reached 10.10.2 and the firmware upgrade for Z-Stick seems to be functioning, but I'm assuming Matt and Jay will update the announcement and withdraw their reservations once (something else?) is resolved.

+1. I'm keen to update too once it's given the all clear.

Yosemite driver for Z-Stick & Multisensor firmware 1.8

Hello: This started with an email I sent to Aeotec support asking why their 4-in-1 Multisensors (I have two) report temperatures that are about 10F less than actual. The told me that there was a new firmware update, 1.8, that I can download and install (requires Windows to do the upgrade).

So, I did it. But now I can't get them integrated with Indigo. I'm running the latest Indigo (6.20?) and Yosemite 10.2.

I was wondering if I need to upgrade the Z-Stick firmware as well? These sensors were working fine under Yosemite with their installed drivers.

If I do need to install the Z-stick firmware, where do I get it?

Finally, in the future, will Indigo allow for firmware installs of Z-Wave products? It's a real hassle getting to a Windows machine to do so.

Many thanks in advance!!

Wayne

Re: Yosemite driver for Z-Stick

Hi Wayne,

The Z-Stick firmware shouldn't need to be updated. Although we would like to be able to do firmware upgrades of the hardware directly, there really isn't a standard mechanism to do so. Providing that lower-level functionality is something the vendor will have to do (it would take us a much longer time to develop it since it is low-level).

As to why it is no longer working, I'm puzzled. Perhaps the firmware update didn't complete successfully? Have you tried excluding the module from the Z-Stick and re-including it (then define/sync it in Indigo again; note the node ID might or might not change).

Re: Yosemite driver for Z-Stick

Thanks for your reply, Matt. I updated the firmware because the temperature readings were way low.

How do I exclude/re-include? Are there any instructions anywhere (I've not found them)?

Thanks again,

Wayne

Re: Yosemite driver for Z-Stick

You put the Z-Stick into exclusion mode (remove from Mac and press its button until it starts fast (not slow) blinking), then typically you follow whatever step you did for the initial inclusion on the module (press/hold a button on it, or double/triple tap a button). The re-inclusion process is the same as the inclusion process (put Z-Stick in inclusion mode (slow blink), then include the module.
