German EAK alarm system using 485 protocol - any clues?

We have an 18 year old german EAK alarm system that I can see uses 485 serial for communication between the control panels and the main unit. I would love to monitor the zones in Indigo. Does anyone have a clue on how I could go about that? Short of that, I'm seriously considering wiring directly in to the control panel LED's and connecting to an easyDAQ! :)

Gotcha - thank you! Looks like I'll be wiring into the LEDs then...

Re: German EAK alarm system using 485 protocol - any clues?

I have a USB-RS485 cable reading data streams from my alarm system. I've had little success decoding the full format, but it's ASCII and there are enough plaintext messages to the keypad to discern the basics of what's going on (eg set, part set, timed set, unset etc)

Just make sure you don't write characters to the RS485 interface, otherwise you could corrupt the data stream and/or trigger the alarm.
