Re: Smartenit EZFlora

Sounds like it doesn't really act like an EZFlora, unfortunately. I'm going to email you with some additional questions / steps.

And the old unit now came back to life but it still can not figure itself out.

Re: Smartenit EZFlora

Anyone using the z-connect valve with indigo?
I have one included on an old Vera ... it works perfectly.

It isn’t an irrigation controller but works well.

Is the GoControl WI15VZ-1 Z-Wave Irrigation Controller supported by Indigo?

This is a reply to a very old post, but FYI Indigo 2022.1.2 is now available and includes beta support for the LinearLinc / GoControl Irrigation Controller (WI15VZ).

Re: Smartenit EZFlora and Rainbee8

Just a quick note to share my experience replacing an EZFlora with 2 ZEN17 general-purpose Z-Wave relay modules:

viewtopic.php?f=58&t=25848&p=214212#p214212

It's not super practical for applications where you need to control lots of valves, but since I only have 4, this worked out pretty well for me.

Cheers,
Matt

Re: Smartenit EZFlora and Rainbee8

I haven't payed attention to my EZRain (EZFlora) over the winter. When I went to go set it up today, I noticed my Indigo 2022.2 now thinks the device is an IR-Linc Transmitter. I tried deleting the device and adding it again, but I get the same results.
Here is the event log when re-adding the device:

PowerLinc Linking - entered discovery linking mode (240 seconds)
PowerLinc Linking - received module button pressed from 01.DB.EE
PowerLinc Linking - sending engine version request to 01.DB.EE
PowerLinc Linking - received engine version 01 from 01.DB.EE
PowerLinc Linking - sending id request for device information to 01.DB.EE
PowerLinc Linking - received id request response from 01.DB.EE
PowerLinc Linking - initializing remote device "new device" (address 01.DB.EE, firmware version 90)
PowerLinc Linking - initialize complete
PowerLinc Linking - syncing remote device "new device" (address 01.DB.EE, firmware version 90)
PowerLinc Linking - syncing of this device not possible remotely (skipping)
PowerLinc Linking - sync complete
PowerLinc Linking - syncing PowerLinc links (address 52.19.DE)
PowerLinc Linking - . . adding: INSTEON plc link to controller 01.DB.EE, flags 03, group 01, data 00 00 FF
PowerLinc Linking - PowerLinc links updated
PowerLinc Linking - sync complete

Re: Smartenit EZFlora and Rainbee8

It has gotten into a bad state (this happens with the EZFlora sometimes, unfortunately). Unplug it from the wall for a couple of minutes then try re-syncing it again.

Yep, that seems to have been the case.
I factory defaulted it, then re-added it. Added/synced fine this time !

I pray that someday soon Indigo will be able to support Zigbee so we can use that device . I'm in the same EZFlora/Rainbee8 nightmare. I can't believe that there isn't a native ZWAVE 8+ irrigation controller on the market after all these years.

That one is Zigbee (not Z-Wave). There are several paths to Zigbee support (check out the bridges category in the Plugin Store), but TBH I don't know if any of those will work with sprinklers.

There are several plugins for network-based sprinkler controllers.

GoControl (I think) had a Z-Wave sprinkler controller, but it didn't stay on the market for very long. I guess there's just no demand for them or someone would have made one and it would have stuck in the market. My guess is that the network-based controllers just offer so much capability that they can stand alone.

Native (built-in) Zigbee support will most likely never happen since it appears that the majority of vendors with Zigbee products are moving to Matter. We're keeping an eye on Matter but have nothing to announce at the moment.

Yes, I quickly moved away from that one. Will try the Rachio via z-wave, and maybe wifi if that actually works.

Thx!

Re: Smartenit EZFlora and Rainbee8

Rachio is only WiFi. I used one for years before moving into a condo - I never really needed to control it from Indigo, it's got really good capabilities built-in.

Re: Smartenit EZFlora and Rainbee8

But it can be controlled by indigo, correct? as in, function as a native irrigation controller (with the plugin)?

that's what i need. i am not wanting to change any programming whatsoever, my system has worked without tweaks for 12 years... it's da bomb. just need a new controller cause an(other) ezflora sh*t the bed.

thanks jay!

ps - i was under the impression is was also a z-wave device... is that wrong? grr. so much bad info out there. very confusing.
