Anyone playing with any of this stuff yet?

http://www.ubnt.com/mfi

I would love to use some of these sensors to integrate with Indigo to trigger commands and scripts.

I've run across them before - as I recall they didn't have an API (but I could be wrong). If they do then one of our 3rd party developers could certainly take a shot at them.

Not all of the modules are wireless (Wi-Fi). Looks like the motion sensors, temp sensor, current sensor and door sensors all require a wired connection to the mPort, but it still looks interesting. The pricing isn't too bad. I'd love to see an Indigo plugin for all of it. :-) I'm not sure if they have a public API or not.

Playing with the wall dimmer/switch, motion sensor and power outlets. Running the Ubiquity controller software - Mfi - on the same Mac mini as Indigo.

Here are some observations.

+ WiFi antenna on the switch is on the front plate and is able to connect to the my access point in the same room reliably. I am using CAT 5 to connect the motion sensor and outlets

+ Network stack is very strong. Great signal data as well as network discovery tools.

+ Integration with Indigo is super easy. Set up rules to post to Indigo virtual device or variable.
example:
posting an ON to a variable - http://127.0.0.1:8176/variables/ubntSwi ... ut&value=1
posting an OFF to a variable - http://127.0.0.1:8176/variables/ubntSwi ... ut&value=0

+ Get power, voltage, current data from the switch.http://www.anandtech.com/show/7530/ubiquiti-networks-mfi-mpower-wifi-power-strip-review/4 has an article about the power sensing chip.

+ If you have a location where there is no Zwave or Insteon signal but you do have WiFi this switch may come in handy.

+ Switch Performance is on par with Insteon Keypads controlling lights. I have the switch setup with no load connected and was using the tap as a scene controller to a bunch of insteon lights.

- Controller software still feels beta

- No published API to talk to the device but is possible using ssh/telnet. Each Mfi device is running BusyBox.

Great to see IP based equipment with good power data capability.

Interesting .. can the RF be skipped and everything be over copper?

As much as I like me some helpful wireless technologies, a low-latency, non-cloud (direct on-device API). non-jammable wired pipeline would be killer.
