No, this isn't spam. It's open source, mac compatible, 3D home design software.
http://sweethome3d.sourceforge.net/
It would work pretty good for those doing control pages. It can do 2D and 3D designs.

Help! OK, so I downloaded the software......input my house floor plan, and now I find no way to save the file to the control page required ".png" format. Can someone give me some guidance here?

Try saving it in a fomat that the program does allow.
Then open that file in Preview and use Preview to save it in PNG format.

I'll try opening it in Preview tonight. The application doesn't "save as" anything but it's own proprietary file format, so I doubt that Preview will be able to open it, but I'll give it a shot!

If that doesn't help, you can allways make a screendump and use that picture for your control page.
Print to PDF first

What I did was use the application to print it. Instead of printing to a printer, I used the PDF option in the print dialog to create a PDF. From there, you can open it in another application that understands both PDFs and PNG files (Photoshop would work, but I'm a big fan of shareware package
GraphicConverter) to convert the PDF to a PNG.

The copy of Preview built in to OSX will both read PDF and write PNG.
