Vantage Vue 6250 wConsole Setup

Hey,

Time to replace my aging Oregon Scientific weather stuff.
Just got a Vantage Vue 6250 with the console and was hoping someone might know how to get it setup with Indigo.
I assume I need the Mac data logger?

Thanks,

Carl

You would be better off buying the WeatherLink Live and using my plugin, In fact, if you're not using the console, maybe return it?

I second the recommendation. I have a Vantage Vue with the console and it was a waste of money. Since I got WeatherLink Live and paired it with the plug in, that is all I use.

Re: Vantage Vue 6250 wConsole Setup

Appreciate the advice. Still confused how Indigo gets the data, especially if you say the console isn’t necessary.
So all that’s needed are the sensors, the Weatherlink app and the Weatherlink plugin?
Also, I haven’t been able to find a download link for the Weatherlink app anywhere.

Thanks,

Carl

Not the Weatherlink app. The WeatherLink Live receiver. https://www.davisinstruments.com/weatherlinklive/

It receives from the Vue the same way a console would. It uploads to the WeatherLink servers for the mobile app to use, and it also has a local network API that the plugin uses to get updates. The plugin gets updates every 20 seconds or so. Direct over the local LAN, no cloud needed.

Oh, and the plugin will upload that data to three different weather sites if you want to publish your station independent of Davis.

Got it...thanks.
Ouch on the $250 for the receiver. Maybe I’ll keep my OS stuff.

Re: Vantage Vue 6250 wConsole Setup

When I priced it out, the combo (there's a discount, I think) was cheaper than the console combo plus the data logger. I got the two together for $400 on Amazon.

Can you return the ones you already got?

Yes, I can. I’ll do some price shopping and see what turns up.

Thanks,
