The boss says they look cool, even the coloured effects but I don't have enough of them!! Think that's approval to buy more!!

Re: WAF- my wife jumped from tasteful 3700K white to crazy conceptual artistry. Note the laser text projector blasting random Christmas phrases on our wall a la Jenny Holzer (who, apparently, is an artist).

Anyone know how to post videos?

My nodemcu is responding pretty fast, under a second in most cases. Is your WiFi weak outside?

Youtube I think is easiest just upload as unlisted and post the link here

Outdoor Christmas Lights....recommendations please

Ah ok. That sounds more like it could be a WiFi issue. Sounds like you need an external AP!
Mine was iffy outside until I got one

What did you get?
My megatree is now in place and on :)

Not the most professional but for a bit of copper pipe a patio umbrella base and a length of plastic pipe it’s alright!!

Led strips on it next year on rigid poles I’m thinking.

I ran my ESP8266 module under the crawlspace and placed it on a foundation pillar in the center of the house. i was having wifi issues when it was mounted outside.

My modules are all on the outside window sills so to be honest aren’t that far from decent Wi-Fi signal.

just had mine fail to respond entirely. Device unreachable despite router saying connected.
Had to restart nodemcu via mains then was ok.

Re: Outdoor Christmas Lights....recommendations please

I’ve got one problem window I think caused by moisture in my project box that’s corroded one of the pin connections.

I’ll take a different approach to waterproofing next year ( ie I’ll actually do some waterproofing of the holes in the box!)
Overall they’ve been good but far from bomb proof, random strips turning on in the middle of the night, not synching with the udp packets etc.

Still pleased with them and good fun, might be my Wi-Fi tbh

Re: Outdoor Christmas Lights....recommendations please

I'll get a photo once it stops raining of my waterproofing. Not bomb proof but IP68 boxes and each exposed soldered joint outside those double covered in heat shrink tubing.

Re: Outdoor Christmas Lights....recommendations please

In case you were like me and running Wled 0.86 there is a newer version available (0.9) with a more slick interface, some more effects and ability to preview from the App.
