Harmony Elite Remote - Add Command

I'm trying to set up a new Harmony Elite (my first one) but have run into a roadblock that I don't understand. I'm at my wits end.

I have the remote controlling all of my equipment, but there is an important command missing from my TiVo device on the Harmony (the 'Back' button). I have added the Back button through the hub and it appears (and works fine) on the Harmony App on my iPhone. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to make the command appear on my remote. When I go to edit the screens for both the Watch TiVo activity as well as the device on the remote, the Back button doesn't appear in the list of commands to add. I even created a second command called 'Dave' in case there was some kind of conflict with the name 'Back', but that doesn't appear on the remote command options either.

Research into this particular issue seems incredibly sparse. I found one article that talks about controlling the TiVo in "device only mode" whatever that is. The one thing I haven't tried is adding the command to one of the customizable hard buttons--but that seems like a kludge. This seems like a rudimentary thing that is proving amazingly elusive.

How do you add a command to these things?

Update: I was able to assign the Back button to one of the programmable hard buttons (the minus button) which works well, but it's not at all intuitive for someone that doesn't already know that's what the button does. I was hoping to be able to assign it to the touch screen but so far that still eludes me.

Does anyone know if it's even possible to assign a custom command to the touchscreen?

Far fewer leaks this year.. I’m impressed with a lot of the changes... particularly CarPlay!

I’m playing with it now but the option I’m sure was there for it has either moved or been removed..

Thanks for trying. When I tried Googling for an answer, a lot of the stuff that comes up says, "Log into your myharmony.com account, which of course doesn't exist anymore. Seems odd that there's no way to do this. What I have will work for now and hopefully, I'll stumble across something (like an updated firmware that puts the feature back in!)

Cheers.
Dave

I found it on the Mac app, and confirm that it's possible. I downloaded the latest Mac app version, updated the firmware of the remote and hub, and was able to add the command to the activity menu.

I was under the mistaken impression that you could only configure the Elite with the iPhone app (it didn't sink in that @Duroisty's latest post said Mac app.)

Aha fantastic! I had a look at the Mac app but didn’t see the option, where was it?

It was under: >Buttons >Screen Options >Select an Activity or Device. Not sure why you can't do that with the phone app. Also the Mac App allows access to change more of the hard buttons as well.

Yeah.. I thought I'd looked there but must've missed it. The Mac app also has much better control of favourites for tv channels. And a few other things. I do wish they'd just roll all this into the iOS app.

For me, I think the Mac app is laid out much more logically. This stuff is all still new, but I've struggled to find settings on the phone app. The desktop app is a revelation by comparison.
