Backup backup backup

Well crap. I’m off for a visit up north and something happened on my server earlier that caused it to fall over. It’s now back up and running but my indigo DB was saying it was corrupted. Ok no biggie.. restore a backup.. oh... crap.. the plugin I have for that has been pointing at indigo 7 folder not 7.2... and because I migrated from an old server to a new one I thought everything important had been copied across.. so my DB is completely gone.

So moral of the story.. check your backups are working!

I used to do this.. just never got around to setting it up on my new machine.

Silver lining was I’d been planning to replace the DB at some point anyway as it had become wildly over complicated in places and thought a fresh start would be a good idea.. it’s just bad timing really.

And again no.. no time machine.. I should.

Re: Backup backup backup

If you still have the DB file that won't load then we can take a look at it. Sometimes we can salvage part/most of it.

Thanks but alas it’s mere kilobytes in size. It appears something caused a process to run away that generated a humongous file and I’m guessing stopped indigo from being able to write back to it. Besides I’m already creating a new lean and mean one. But thanks for the offer.. now go spend that time on indigo 7.4

Re: Backup backup backup

Going forward, this is a great Backup Plugin, I have it backing up every night at 3AM.

It gives daily ( or whenever you trigger it) zipped backups of the full indigo folder incase I screw something up.

Sorry for your loss

Re: Backup backup backup

Yeah that was the plugin I was using.. an older one and I’d just never changed the path to indigo 7.2. It’s just unfortunate I didn’t notice my mistake back when I got my new mini.. that’s when things were setup incorrectly.. on my old pro I had time machine running, two sets of backups and even an off site backup.. I just foolishly never got around to setting it up again!

Thanks for this warning. How can I tell if I'm backing up 7.2 (vs the old 7.0 folder)? I went through the plugin update process mentioned in the thread you linked (copied the updated file into the backup folder in 7.2). Ran a backup, and I notice it's still calling it ".zip.zip" which makes me think it still might not be working right, since the documentation said that issue was also addressed.

I just want to make sure I'm backing up correctly.

I have corresponded with Benjamin the creator of this plugin, he had mentioned getting them into the Plugin Store, and a GitHub link for further contributions.

When you unzip the file it should show the correct path:

Re: Backup backup backup

If/until Benjamin uploads this to the store, can someone re-host the plugin?

I've got the plugin.py.txt but not the plugin's original structure (.info file etc).
