Re: Aeon Labs MultiSensor (DSB05)

Thank your quick follow up Jay.

Will try this tomorrow and see what happens.
I managed to get the sensors back up so that is good news but re-synchonizing failed again so your suggested solution will, hopefully, bring the network back into shape.
Will keep you up to date :)

Q1 How can I 'repair' this?

Getting routes right with battery powered devices is a little tricky. Here's what I'd do (in this order):

  1. Bring your motion sensors to your Mac
  2. Resync the motion sensors (wake them up)
  3. Resync the repeaters (keep the motion sensors awake)

This will hopefully make sure that everyone knows about everyone else, and there are no more routes to non existing nodes. Next, repeat these steps for each sensor:
So I tried this but again no joy :(

Re: Aeon Labs MultiSensor (DSB05)

So now the sensors won't even sync when they are withing range (just a few feet) of the Z-Stick?

Exactly.

The funny thing is that they seem to work but sync and sending a status request fail all the time.

Re: Aeon Labs MultiSensor (DSB05)

Are you waking the module?

Status request (and sync) will always fail unless you either have the module powered via the USB mini port or unless you wake the module.

To wake it follow the instructions of removing the battery cover and triple tapping the button. The LED on the front will glow steady if it is in wake mode — if the LED is not glowing steady, then the module is asleep.

I think these contradict each other :?
Anyway, I will try again and make sure I see the LED glow...

Re: Aeon Labs MultiSensor (DSB05)

I've replaced an Insteon motion sensor with a Multisensor. It's primary function is to turn on lights, fans, and adjust AC when I walk into the office.

Noticing that the Multisensor is much slower update its motion state in Indigo (and to turn on the lights, etc.) It is running on USB power, not battery. Since there's not a battery drain concern, is there a setting that can be adjusted to make update its state to "On" as fast as the Insteon sensor did?

Thanks,
mjc

Re: Aeon Labs MultiSensor (DSB05)

The hardware doesn't delay between the time it senses motion and sends the command. Our experience is that they're super fast, so my guess is that your motion sensor has to route through multiple nodes to get to the Z-Wave interface. Additional "hops" does cause delays in communication. You might try resyncing the devices between the Z-Stick and the motion sensor just to make sure that the best route is getting followed. Start by syncing the closer ones first and work your way towards the motion sensor.

Thank You Jay,

That was helpful. I'm seeing speed increases after resyncing other Z-Wave devices and the multi sensor, as you described above.

Hi There,

is there an easy way to grasp the time at which an update was received from one of the sensors and put it in a control
i.e.

Control Page :

Temperature = 22 C updated 03:55am 25/06/2013
Humidity = 57% updated 03:58am 25/06/2013
Luminance = 255 updated 04:08am 25/06/2013

Motion = ON updated 04:08am 25/06/2013

I am able to do everything but the Time stamp for the update, I know that I sound "lazy" but I am not terribly familiar nor with Applescript and/or with Pyton, if there is an easy "system" way I would love to learn it, if I need to write a script, would any good-will volonteer to give the first indication and than I will implement it from there.

Thanks for your Support

Francesco

Hello,

How did you you get the timestamp to display that format?

Re: Aeon Labs MultiSensor (DSB05)

Hi,

Was wondering the best method to have a Aeon Humidity sensor in a bathroom control a fan based on the other Aeon humidity sensors in the house current value.

IE: run the fan until the bathroom humidity matches the kitchen and bedroom humidity

The fan always comes on when shower scene is loaded from the A button on a keypad link dimmer, so even better would be to have the fan come on as soon as the
bathroom humidity is higher then the other 2 humidity sensors.

Thanks in advance, love this forum and Indigo!!

Re: Aeon Labs MultiSensor (DSB05)

I think that I would do this with an embedded script within a trigger.

Trigger settings:
Type: Device State Changed
Device: Bathroom Humidity Sensor - Sensor Value - Has Any Change

Actions:

Server Actions - Script and File Actions - Execute Script
Embedded Python

Untested:
Code: Select all
humidityBathroom = indigo.devices[BATHROOM HUMIDITY ID].sensorValue
humidityKitchen = indigo.devices[KITCHEN HUMIDITY ID].sensorValue
humidityBedroom = indigo.devices[BEDROOM HUMIDITY ID].sensorValue

if (humidityBathroom > humidityKitchen) or (humidityBathroom > humidityBedroom):
   indigo.device.turnOn(BATHROOM FAN ID)

elif (humidityBathroom <= humidityKitchen) and (humidityBathroom <= humidityBedroom):
   indigo.device.turnOff(BATHROOM FAN ID)
Certainly not the only way to do it.
