Starling Hub Invalid API?

Getting this error when I try to use the popup UI for my Nest thermostat.
Code: Select all
API key specified is invalid, or does not have the right permissions for this request.
Starling Bridge Error           send "Starling Nest Thermostat" Thermostat Setpoint increase heat setpoint to 61.0°F failed

Any idea how to correct it?

Edit: Should mention all other functions are working. Hub and Thermostat device states seem fine.

Thanks,

Carl

Where is the popup UI?
I need a bit more info to help with this. :)

Re: Starling Hub Invalid API?

Not sure what you need to see about the popup UI.
When I try to adjust the set point using the popup I get the error message in the log in the above post.

Thanks,

Carl

Re: Starling Hub Invalid API?

I am still unclear as to what you are running and what you click on to get the pop-up.
Is it from a web browser?
I just want to try and replicate what you are doing.

Re: Starling Hub Invalid API?

What happens if you adjust it from the Indigo Main UI device page?

Re: Starling Hub Invalid API?

Adjusting the set point on the thermostat device itself returns the same error.
The popup is on a Touch control page.

Thanks,

Carl

Re: Starling Hub Invalid API?

OK Thanks for the clarification.

I will have to dig out my Nest thermostat and reconnect it to test this. I only purchased the thermostat to be able to test the plugin and don't use it otherwise. ;)
I will try and do this over the weekend.

Re: Starling Hub Invalid API?

I have reproduced the error message you are getting.

The plugin just plays back messages that it receives from the Starling Hub.

You are trying to modify the setpoint of your thermostat but haven't set the W permission in the Starling Developer Connect tab when you log onto your hub via a web browser. Press the small edit button that appears when you click on your API key. The edit dialogue will appear, then enable the W: Change properties of your Nest devices, for example to set the thermostat or unlock your doors option. Note the plugin doesn't support locks. ;)

Let me know if this resolves the issue. :)

Re: Starling Hub Invalid API?

Sorry, I’m confused on how to login to the hub from a web browser.
I’ve been logging into it from their app and aren’t seeing any option like you’ve described there.

Edit: Got logged in to the hub from a browser and did find the edit button. Working great!

Thanks,

Carl

Re: Starling Hub Invalid API?

I can see it in your image. :D

Click the pencil symbol at the start of your API key .
I have just tried it in the App and it reveals the W setting.
