I’m curious.. would it also be possible to expand this to work with the work pass functionality?

Not sure what you mean with ‘work pass’ ? Even a google hasn’t helped me here…

Oh sorry it’s not called that, it’s just adding an employee badge to control NFC door locks.

I see “Revert Lock changes to allow HomeKey (unlikely to be used given need for NFC reader)”.. did it not pan out? :(

Complicated basically.

Did lead to a new plugin:
https://www.indigodomo.com/pluginstore/293/

Which allows all Esp32 devices to be quickly and easily linked into indigo. Currently supporting all sensors (Lux, motion, pressure etc.). and binary sensors and all other switches etc. I’m finding it very useful for my sensor devices.

The issue with Lock - is we can create a Wallet Home ‘Key’ with homekit code, which looks flashy. But really doesn’t have much use.

To use would need a NFC reader connected to a ESP device at your front door. Open wallet, scan Key (and these security key exchanges are just being worked out) recognises you and unlock door.

The NFC Reader/ESPHome plugin I can eventually use to manage that.

Still a lot of practical issues. And plenty of easier alternatives… eg.

Alternatively - can put a NFC tag at front door and have a shortcut (in Shortcut app) that when certain tag scanned run Homekit command - unlock front door.
(Much easier, simpler and indeed quicker as don’t need to open wallet)

Ah yes, that does make more sense. I’m quite excited with the ESP plugin actually.. I’ve got too many other unfinished projects at present to dive into it now but maybe in the new year! For now I’ve got a Macintosh Portable that I’m determined to restore to its former glory!
