iOS 16.2 HomeKit "Architecture" Changes

Apparently HomeKit has a new "architecture" in iOS 16.2. Do you think this will have any issues with HomeKitLink?

iOS 16.2 HomeKit "Architecture" Changes

Eek! Who knows with Apple I suspect is the bottom line.

The only good news is every implementation will have the same potential issue (if indeed there is one)

This homebridge thread - probably will be most updated

https://github.com/homebridge/homebridge/issues/3250

& this feedback there reassuring

I have convert my Home to new architecture 16.2 also updated HomePod mini , iPad and iPhone to 16.2 and all working as before. Homebridge is not affected and working OK.

Seems like should be okay - but wouldn’t race in to update!

Re: iOS 16.2 HomeKit "Architecture" Changes

Since the change, every 2-3 days all my Indigo devices stop responding in Home, and the only way I've found to fix things is to delete the HomeKitLink accessory in Home then re-add it and all the devices, which is an absolute pain!

Anyone else seeing this issue?

iOS 16.2 HomeKit "Architecture" Changes

So you have upgraded to Beta 16.2 and force updated all your homekit hubs?

iOS 16.2 HomeKit "Architecture" Changes

I would be surprised if anyone else has forced upgraded all hubs to a beta implementation of Homekit. (It also means ipad’s can no longer be Hubs, amongst one of many changes)

See here:

Certainly I haven’t, and based on the hub communication changes I’m somewhat surprised it actually works without problem…. (2 days dying aside - obviously!)

I’ll have a look and see if any reports. (is a OS16 unpairing issue….)

Re: iOS 16.2 HomeKit "Architecture" Changes

I only use HomeKit for a few Siri things so it's not a huge deal - hence the decision to try it!

Brave! I looked at it - but the fact it seems to push the beta to every device making it irreversible seemed a bit risky!

I’ll update the libraries pairing code issue now - give me 5 (maybe 10 development machine is off…) minutes - and then update plugin to 0.4.3 code…

(9 minutes! Close.)

Go to

http://www.github.com/Ghawken/HomeKitLink-Siri

Click Code button and update to 0.4.3

Seems this change may fix your earlier adopter issue! Let us know and will push update.

Lightning fast!

I've installed, deleted and re-paired. Everything looks good so far.

I'll keep you posted over the next few days!

Many thanks Glenn. :)

Fast, but missed a bit - update to 0.4.4 - should more robustly help I think.
