Gmail SMTP Username and Password not accepted

I'm getting this error from Email+ when attempting an SMTP connection to a Gmail account that has worked for years:

Code: Select all
Email+ SMTP Server: SMTP server connection error: (535, '5.7.8 Username and Password not accepted. Learn more at\n5.7.8  https://support.google.com/mail/?p=BadCredentials

According to this page, as of June 1 2022 Gmail no longer supports username and password authentication. Does Email+ support a more modern alternative authentication that works with Gmail, or do I need to refactor how I'm sending outbound emails from Indigo? Given that it's Gmail, I thought I'd see something about this in this forum, but I don't. Maybe it has been discussed elsewhere?

It's possible the "less secure apps" and an app password will still work. Otherwise, you'll probably want to switch to some other email provider for use with Indigo.

iCloud works when using an app-specific password.

Thanks! Just switched to iCloud per another thread I found. It works.

Can you point me to details on how to setup Mail+ with an iCloud account?
