Adding an Action to Alexa - not listed

I'm trying to add an action group to Alexa but it is not listed in the drop down menu.

A bit more info - I have an action called "Puppies" (no quotes) that sets my two lanai blinds to 20% brightness. The action group functions perfectly when run from Indigo. Now I want to have it run by saying "Alexa turn on puppies". When I attempt to add this action group to the Alexa plug in it isn't listed in the devices.

Re: Adding an Action to Alexa - not listed

You can't add an action group to Alexa like that. There are two ways of doing what you want: the first is to use the custom Alexa skill to execute the action group.

The other option (which honestly I recommend because the invocation is much easier) is to create a Virtual On/Off Device which executes your existing action group (and perhaps one that's opposite as well). Then you can add that device to Alexa like any other device and control it as you mentioned above.

The Alexa plugin docs are pretty thorough and are worth a read-through.

Thanks Jay. I think I'll use your second option.
