tvOS 15 & Device Pairing

It looks like tvOS 15 requires device pairing (and pyatv v0.9.0 or greater) -- I don't suppose you have that in the works or have a quick work around for any of us that have already upgraded?

Re: tvOS 15 & Device Pairing

I am moving from dallas to Vienna.
I don’t have any indigo or tv or router or … active for the next 2 months. All my stuff is in a warehouse in dallas waiting for a delayed container ti be shipped across the pond.

So no quick fix for the next 2 months.
Sorry

Karl.

Re: tvOS 15 & Device Pairing

Excuses, excuses

In all seriousness though I hope the move goes well! Just moving 3 miles was a massive stress last time I did it, moving 5000+ miles must be extraordinary difficult in comparison.

Re: tvOS 15 & Device Pairing

Yes I know.

Matt and Jay should offer a virtual indigo development environment with attached rpis, apple tv zwave and Insteon and wifi devices.
And may be some UniFi cameras and switches.

Let’s blame it on them.

Oh, absolutely. In fact they should move to Vienna with you. Move into a little office and spend all day every day adding my ridiculous wish list features to indigo.

Also remember you’re in Europe now.. we don’t do that darned Insteon here.. z-wave all the way baby!

Hey Karl,

Hope the move went well and you're settling in to Austria OK.
Do you have any idea when you might be updating your fabulous plugin for tvOS 15?
I have the latest pyatv installed and atvremote commands work OK in the terminal (once I'd paired and stored the resulting creds!)
I've tried to poke around in the plugin to see if I could find a way to even hard code the creds but my Python skills and kindergarten to say the least! ;-)

Re: tvOS 15 & Device Pairing

I am slowly starting.

have installed ~ 60 hue lamps and 30 switches / dimmers and the 2 hue hubs are running (have modified the philips hue plugin with help from Nathan)

Next are
- pibeacon installs, just need to hide cables
then
- apple tv, need to likely upgrade . but I am down to one apple tv. The other TV has apple tv build in and it actually works better than the apple tvs - I still can use my US license and have my movie purchases still working, On the other apple tv I need to decide if i want to have EU tv OR USA tv, either or. There I have switched to EU tv and all apple purchase are gone
- shelly add some new devices and upgrade to the latest software releases
- and the unifi controller upgrade

And then the big one: convert everything to work under python2.7 and 3. As apple will not preinstall any python and we will need t switch to 3.x with all python libs to be stalled and maintained ...
That will be fun.

Re: tvOS 15 & Device Pairing

Great to hear you're settling in well and thanks again for the sterling work on your fabulous plugins!
I guess several of us who actively use your plugins (Apple TV and UniFiAP in my case) are eagerly awaiting the updates ;-)

Cheers,

Chris

Re: tvOS 15 & Device Pairing

Sorry not yet.
I have just finished the first version for the py2 to py3 conversion for my current plugins

As this one does not work anymore it had to wait. Unfortunately I am traveling next week.

After that I will try to make some time.

Karl.
