Indigo Weather Conditions Plugin (for Indigo 5) is released.

Folks,

I am officially releasing the Indigo Weather Conditions plugin.

Currently it supports Google Weather, and Weather Underground... I do plan to add NOAA support to it soon.

Very cool plugin - one note is that the images do not seem to be in the package under IWS\Weather-Conditions\images.

The images are provided by the Weather Provider, and thus doesn't need to be duplicated in the plugin.

The weather providers actually provide the fully path and URL for the icons, thus we are hot-linking to the icons... But it's acceptable use per their licenses...

Re: Indigo Weather Conditions Plugin (for Indigo 5) is relea

I followed the instructions and things seem to be working fine but I am getting the following message in the log:

Aug 17, 2011 8:40:38 PM
Retrieving Weather Condition Information from Weather Underground
Unable to write data file to: /library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 5/IndigoWebServer/plugins/Weather-Conditions/pickled_data
Data retrieved from Weather Underground, and Saved.

What is causing the "Unable to write data file to....."

Any help is appreciated.

Everything is working fine, and your getting that error? If your receiving that error, then it shouldn't be working...
The pickled_data file is what stores the current weather data...

I'll take a closer look and see if there is an odd situation for that error message, but nothing comes to mind...

I figured it out. I didn't follow the instructions properly. I copied the IWS folder and all of it's contents to /IndigoWebServer/plugins rather than just the Weather-Conditions folder. Hope I didn't waste too much of your time. Thanks.

That's perfectly fine.... I'm glad that it was something relatively simple....

Great plugin and works in Europe!

The indigo web server is not providing any images though? I just have small little blue boxes. Have I missed something?

Is there a way to get the images or forecast into a control page please?

Thanks for your hard work.

Cheers

It depends... The image links should be derived directly from the weather source that you are using.

So I'll need some details on what settings your using... Can you elaborate on how you have it setup?

Re: Indigo Weather Conditions Plugin (for Indigo 5) is relea

Hi Ben

Thanks.....

I have 0.98 installed.

Configuration is

Google
Horizontal
Post code
15 minutes
Export to variable

I have inserted a couple of the variables to a contril page and can see those on ISO devices.

I looked at the indigo web page generated by my local server, clicked on weather on the bottom, and all details load appart from the pictures.

Checked indigo5\indigowebserver\plugins\weather-conditions\images and that's empty. Cant see any other local weather images elsewhere either.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks.

On another point, can I get the image and forecast into a control page?

Cheers

Mat

Re: Indigo Weather Conditions Plugin (for Indigo 5) is relea

Hi Ben, thanks again for the plug in, very slick. I have a question similar to Mat's above. How do I get a Forecast onto a Control Page??? I don't see the forecast variables in my list, only the current conditions. What am I missing???

Thanks in advance,
-d

I'm looking for weather forecast information, too. Any suggestions?

I have a test version of v1.00 available. Please email me at Benjamin AT schollnick DOT net, and I'll send you a copy for you to test to ensure that it has solved the google image issue.

Okay, that's a surprise to me. Device States are available, as I expected... But technically the Weather Conditions plugin doesn't have a device. The plugin itself has states...

-- correction --
I just looked at the code, and realized that I misremembered the code. I see no state declarations in my xml definition...
--------------

Matt & Jay, is this something that is not technically supported? I realize I can sit down and make a dummy device, or re-engineer the plugin to have a device model... Any chance that we can have plugin states displayed on control pages?

-- correction --
Matt & Jay, can a device-less plugin have states appear in the control page? And if not, can it be added?
