Like to be able to define triggers based on payload contents

I have been trying to learn all I can about both MQTT and MQTT Shim plugins by @FlyingDiver.
One thing that I haven't been able to find out just yet is how to define triggers based on payload contents, instead of Topic contents.
This all comes from the wish to define triggers based on that same "Nue/3A Smart" device, that sports 3 different endpoints on the same single device...
Joe has already kindly taught me how to define a single trigger, instead of the several I was doing, but I would still like to be able to match on payload contents.
Is it even possible?
