Release candidates

I'm considering the two current pre-releases to be decent release candidates. I'm going to keep testing for a few days. The more testing with different devices we get in that time the better. Let me know what you all think.

Re: Release candidates

I'm changing the plugin names for the next release.

MQTT -> MQTT Connector
Shims -> MQTT Shims

This is only the file name(s) and in the UI. It won't change devices at all. Disable the plugins, shut down the Indigo server, install the new/delete the old, then restart the server.

Re: Release candidates

Hi Joe,

i am very interrested in you plugin.
Could you please elaborate, what the difference is between yours and the other 2 MQTT plugins?
I am using the Greensky MQTT plugin at the moment and it works quite well will my SonOff devices and Node Red.

so what ist the difference ? Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance

Wilhelm

Re: Release candidates

Mine is more flexible. Less assumptions about the format of the topics and payload contents. There are outstanding issues in GitHub for the GreenSky plugin that haven't been addressed, and the plugin hasn't been updated since last year. My new plugin can also connect to multiple MQTT brokers at once.

The mqttGateway plugin is even more limited in what it can do, and it's very resource intensive. It spawns a subprocess for every device that's listening for an MQTT payload, and a thread to communicate with each of those processes.

Read this thread to see how it got started: viewtopic.php?f=316&t=22738

But if what you're using works for you, then stick with it.

Re: Release candidates

Thank you very much for the explanation. As soon as I have time, I will definately test it.
Cheers

Re: Release candidates

I'm bored today so just in case you wanted something like the shims Icon - no worries if you don't need or want - if you would like to see any mods happy to support.

PS. Later today I'm planning to count all the sheets on a toilet paper roll :-)
