Yep. That’s it. Looks like the outdoor sensor has the same parameters as the indoor, so shouldn’t be too hard to add support. I’m in the middle of moving this weekend though. Everything (but my iPhone) is packed. So I won’t be able to release any plugin updates this week. I’m hoping to have enough set up by next week though.

No problem...

Thanks

Good luck with the move!

I've added a GLEDOPTO controller to control a CCT lightstrip. It's controllable in the Hue app fine but I can't get it visible in the Hue Plugin (or HomeKit Bridge).

It appears as in the Hue App as:

Extended color light
Manufacturer: GLEDOPTO
Model: GL-C-008
SW: 1..0.6

and in the Indigo debug:

u'manufacturername': u'GLEDOPTO', u'config': {u'function': u'mixed', u'direction': u'omnidirectional', u'archetype': u'classicbulb'}, u'type': u'Extended color light', u'modelid': u'GL-C-008'}, u'42': {u'swversion': u'1.46.13_r26312',

Is it not appearing because it's an older software version? Anyone have an idea how to add it or to update the software of the GLEDOPTO?

Nathan is goofing off moving house so this may be a while until he can work his magic!

Haha! Busta999 is right. Sorry for the delay in replying. I’ve just moved and everything (including my Indigo development computer) is still floating around in a box somewhere. I’ll have to add that model ID to the supportedDevices Python file in the plugin in order for the plugin to recognize it. You can either do that yourself as a temporary workaround or wait a while until I can include it in a plugin update.

Ha, thanks Nathan (and Busta) What a professional you are! No rush. I'll also try pottering around with the file myself. I thought that perhaps that model was already in there and mine wasn't showing up because of it having older software.

Hope your move went well.

Sooooo...

I edited supportedDevices.py to add # GL-C-008 = GLEDOPTO Generic ZigBee color light strip (color and color temp). But I don't see it appearing as an option in the dropdowns to add a new Hue light. To be extra, sure I added this line in the # Philips LightStrips and # 3rd Party (Non-Philips) ZigBee Lights sections. I tried re-starting Indigo and re-loading the Hue plugin.

What else should I try?

Solved this myself so just leaving a note that may help others. There's a section further down that has the model ids. In my case I have a GLEDOPTO GL-C-008. There was aleady and option for GL-C-007, I changed that to GL-C-008 and the light appeared as an option in the dropdowns. All working fine now.

Thanks Nathan. You're a gent.

May I ask you, what's the best option to choose here to control a WW/CW strip?

I can switch on and alter the colour temperature of my white only strips using the Gledopto RGB-CCT controller but it's a bit hit and miss. If I bought the GLEDOPTO CW/WW controller what model of light would I choose and would your Hue plugin only show controls for white (as opposed to RGB)?

My experience of non Hue strips is that they are hit or miss.

I guess that is why Hue is more expensive?

The strips that I'm using are actually far, far higher quality than the Hue strips - they're very high CRI (better colour rendition) and far more LEDs per metre than the Hue strips, making them much brighter and less spotty than Hue. When I drive them directly off of the PSU they're super reliable. It's only when I introduce the Zigbee controllers that things become less reliable.

I guess you could argue that the Zigbee controllers themselves might be not be reliable but I was wondering if it might be also that the parameters that I'm passing via the Hue plugin are somehow not compatible with the strips eg the temperature may be too high or too low for the strip or the fact that RGB appears in the plugin parameters but it's not actually controllable in the strip itself because it only has Warm White and Cool White.
