Re: Hue Lights - Free Philips Hue Plugin

Hello,

I'm getting this error when trying to add a Hue device in Indigo 5.1.7 with plugin 0.9.7.

File "plugin.py", line 301, in validateDeviceConfigUi
<type 'exceptions.KeyError'>: key not found in database

Any idea what might be causing this? Am I doing something wrong?
The pairing process seems to have been successful and I get all 16 lights identified by the plugin, but neither of them can be added as devices in Indigo.

Hi Stefan.

That error indicates that the device you're selecting from the Hue Bulb list no longer exists. Try going to the Plugins menu, then the Hue Lights sub-menu and selecting Reload Bulb List. This will rebuild the list of bulbs registered with the Hue hub. Any time you add, remove, or change a bulb on the hub, you have to select the Reload Bulb List option in Indigo so the Hue Lights plugin can keep track of the changes.

If that doesn't work, try reloading the plugin or restarting the Indigo server. If those don't work either, enable debugging in the Hue Lights configuration dialog. Then reproduce the error and copy/paste the log results into your reply here.

Re: Hue Lights - Free Philips Hue Plugin

I've installed the hue lights plugin, got it linked, but each time I try to add a bulb I get this error:

Jan 23, 2013 10:34:32 AM
Hue Lights Debug logging enabled

Jan 23, 2013 10:34:51 AM
Hue Lights Debug Return bulb list is [[u'1', u'Hue Lamp 1'], [u'3', u'Hue Lamp 3'], [u'2', u'Hue Lamp 2'], [u'5', u'Hue Lamp 4'], [u'4', u'Hue Lamp 6']]
Hue Lights Debug validateDeviceConfigUi called.
Hue Lights Error Error in plugin execution UiValidate:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "plugin.py", line 301, in validateDeviceConfigUi
<type 'exceptions.KeyError'>: key not found in database

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This looks like the same error that Stefan was getting in the previous post (likely for the same reason). Did you try using the Reload Bulb List menu option? What about reloading the Hue Lights plugin or restarting the Indigo server? Which version of Indigo are you using?

Let me know if none of that works. I'm not able to reproduce the error on my system.

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Thanks for the quick response, I really appreciate it.

Let me know if you need more info

I tried reloading the plugin. Restarting the indigo server. Rebooting the machine.
OS 10.6.8
Indigo 5.7.1
I still get the same response:

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Interesting. What are you doing to reproduce that error. A step-by-step walk-through would help.

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Ok here is the walkthrought

Install Plugin and synch following directions. Plugin syncs all looks well in the log.

Add new Device in Indigo as per directions.

Dialog asking to Configure Hue Bulb. Bulbs all show up.
Add a ramp rate, or not.

Error occurs.

Give this version a try. If it works, let me know so I can update the main announcement thread with the new version.

Great! Glad it's working.

You can send donations via PayPal to the email address

(I took out the @ and . so spam bots don't slurp up the address). I appreciate any donations you feel appropriate, but they're by no means required or expected. I'm just happy to share. :-D

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Just noticed that when the lights colors are all set to 255, which I assumed would be white,
they are actually quite dim and rather orange as shown in the Hue app.

Any idea why that may be?

Thanks,

Carl

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Hi Carl.

Does this always happen or just every once in a while (if only occasionally, have you noticed a pattern)? I couldn't get mine to do that by using the Set Red/Green/Blue Levels action.

On a related note, the Hue bulbs aren't true RGB bulbs, so you won't get accurate colors using the RGB method (or HSB method, for that matter). Still, RGB values of 255/255/255 should be much whiter than illustrated in that screen shot.

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Yes, it does happen each time I set them to full 255. Dragging the lights in the Hue up to white
does brighten them quite a bit.

Thanks,

Carl

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Could you turn on debugging in the Hue Lights plugin, reproduce the problem then paste the log into your reply? I'll see if I can reproduce the problem when I get home this evening. Also, it'd help to know which version of Hue Lights you're using and which version of Indigo you're using.
