Re: Pioneer Receiver discussion

Thanks for the fast turnaround :D Zone 2 now populates the menu.

Question: For playing iTunes through the Pioneer, is the correct input source for zone 2 "MAC" or "Media Server" [or something else?]

Also, there is no data in this menu for Zone 1

Re: Pioneer Receiver discussion

If I recall correctly, this Zone 1 menu DID populate with data before the v1.0.7 update [if that helps you]

Re: Pioneer Receiver discussion

Version 1.0.8 Released

  • Fixed another bug that caused the plugin to crash when communicating with the VSX-1123-K.

Hopefully that'll fix the error introduced in 1.0.7. I don't have a VSX-1123-K to test with though, so there may be other errors.

Re: Pioneer Receiver discussion

Nathan,
v1.0.8 seems to work nicely with the 1123 :D

There is this error that shows up at POWER OFF
Code: Select all
Action Group                    Receiver [power OFF]
AV [receiver]                   power (zone 1): off
Pioneer Receiver Error          AV [receiver]: not available now.

It doesn't seem to cause any issues, so I'm not sure it needs to be fixed. Does your 1021 display that error?

On a side note, is there any way to capture these parameters to a variable?
Code: Select all

Re: Pioneer Receiver discussion

Hi Craig.

Thanks for the information.

Those "Pioneer Receiver Error" messages are actually Pioneer defined error messages that the VSX-1123K is sending back to the plugin, not plugin error messages. So the plugin is sending a command the receiver doesn't like for some reason. As you said, it likely isn't affecting receiver and plugin operation, so it doesn't need to be fixed right away. If you find that plugin and receiver interactions aren't working, though, we'll need to look more into what is causing the receiver to send back those errors to the plugin.

Re: Pioneer Receiver discussion

Do we have a link for the 1.0.8 plugin? This page on the Indigo Plugin directory is still giving me 1.0.6 https://www.indigodomo.com/library/209/

Re: Pioneer Receiver discussion

The main Pioneer Receiver plugin announcement thread in this forum at viewtopic.php?f=31&t=8737 always has a download link to the latest plugin version.

Re: Pioneer Receiver discussion

Hi Nathen,

I'd like to thank you for a very useful plugin. I can see from the discussions, as well as my own use, that you have done a lot of work on this. I have the VSX-1122 receiver and have one request, either in the form as part of the plugin, or as a raw command: I have a set of speakers in the living room that is set on the "Speaker A" setting and a set of ceiling speakers in a bathroom on "Speaker B". I'm not finding a way to switch speaker settings: A, B or A+B in the plugin. Is this something I'm missing? Or is there another way for me to make these changes? I'd like to add the functionality in my "Music" control page.

Thank you in advance.
Mark

Re: Pioneer Receiver discussion

Hi Mark.

I'm glad you're getting some use from the Pioneer Receiver plugin.

You can change speaker output settings using the Pioneer Receiver Plugin action System -> Send a Raw Command. Note that I haven't tested speaker output changes, but according to the Pioneer documentation on the VSX-1122, the following commands should work.

  • 0SPK - All speakers off.
  • 1SPK - Speaker A on (Speaker B off).
  • 2SPK - Speaker B on (Speaker A off).
  • 3SPK - Speaker A+B on.
  • 9SPK - Cycle through the above settings.

Give it a try and let me know if that works for you.

Wow! Super fast response Nathan. I apologize for misspelling your name on the original post!

I'm going to toy with that. I'll let the group know how it worked out.

Re: Pioneer Receiver discussion

Worked like a dream!!! There was one side affect to 0SPK though: all speakers do cut off as expected, but the sub seems to be exempt. So when I run the command to turn off all speakers from the 1122, I get this "thumping' that is unintelligible. :)

Re: Pioneer Receiver discussion

HI Mark.

Hahaha! The subwoofer deal is kinda funny, but makes sense I guess. I'd recommend muting the volume for Zone 1 rather than turning off all of the speakers. Or maybe doing both. I think the Speaker power function is more of a physical switch that's changes within the amp, whereas the mute function is more of a software function in the pre-amp area, so muting will mute everything being sent to both the subwoofer and the power amplifier that powers the speakers.

Re: Pioneer Receiver discussion

Makes a lot of sense Nathan. I was actually thinking "if I'm not listening to that receiver, why not just power it off?" Shave A little off my carbon footprint .

Again, the plugin is a great piece of work!

Re: Pioneer Receiver discussion

Nathan,

When I purchased the Pioneer VSX-1122, I also picked up a Pioneer BDP-150 BluRay player. I never really used it much, but I now have a renewed interest in it. I'd like to see if I could create a plugin for it, by possibly using some info from your Pioneer receiver plugin (rather then reinventing the wheel).

I've never done much coding, but I'm willing to give it a shot. Maybe I just need to be pointed in the right direction to get started. My biggest interest is just getting some basic fuctionality working to begin with: power on/off and getting triggers set up based on those functions. The iControl iPad app can control both the Receiver and the BluRay player, so I believe it is all possible. The BDP-150 has a network jack and is connected and reporting into my router, and is also seen by the fingscan plugin.

Maybe a full blown plugin isn't even necessary. If scripts of some sort would work, maybe I could go that route. I'm just looking for a "jump off" place to begin.

Thanks,

~Mark

Re: Pioneer Receiver discussion

Hi Mark.

I don't know much about the BDP-150 Blu-ray players. I did create some AppleScript stuff for my DMP-BDT210 Blu-ray player a long time ago. The forum post on that is at http://forums.indigodomo.com/viewtopic.php?f=124&t=6810.

Since the BDP-150 is controlled through the same iControl app from Pioneer though, I suspect it uses a different protocol. It looks like Pioneer publishes IP communication information on a number of their Blu-ray players on the Home Electronics Custom Install web site. They have information on the BDP-140, which I'll bet shares most of the commands and features with the BDP-150. Check out their communication specifications. That'll give you an idea of how best to proceed I think. As for starting an Indigo plugin, the Indigo Domotics wiki has a very useful plugin tutorial and SDK here. That'll help you get started with the plugin basics.
