Hi Karl.

1. Ikea tradfri only uses zigbee and works with its owns dimmers and the Ikea app through the Ikea gateway and ?? also through the Philips hue gateway and also the Philips hue dimmers ??

I'm not sure. I've tried to pair one model of Ikea lights with the Hue bridge and it didn't work, but I know many others have successfully paired different Ikea/Tradfri lights with the Hue bridge because they've asked me to add support. So if you can pair an Ikea light with the Hue bridge, I can add support in the Hue Lights plugin. But if you're not able to get the Ikea light to work with the Hue bridge, I couldn't do anything to fix that.

2. Philips Hue bulbs come EITHER in zigbee OR in bluetooth versions (??not both??),
With the hue bridge/gateway you can set light/color.. through iPhone app and hue dimmers. Bluetooth can bet set also directly iPhone app bluetooth--> bulb; When using bluetooth the bridge/iphone has to be within 10 meters to talk to the bulb

My understanding is that the new Hue lights that support Bluetooth also support ZigBee, but not both at the same time (so if you set them up using Bluetooth, they don't work with the Hue bridge until you reset them and pair them with the Hue bridge, then Bluetooth doesn't work). However, I'm not positive about this as I've not tested it myself.

3. the Indigo Hue plugin talks to the Philips hue bridge / gateway through HTTP / Restful interface. Only one gateway is supported, for a second bridge a second plugin with changed name for the plugin has to be used.

Is this correct?

Yes. The Hue Lights plugin only supports communicating with one Hue bridge at a time, and only via HTTP/RESTful interface. Using a second bridge requires duplicating the plugin and changing the plugin ID within the plugin bundle so it looks like a new plugin to Indigo (thus creating separate preferences and settings for the 2nd copy of the plugin).

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Hello - I have been adding devices to my iOS Hue app, and they work fine there, but Inidigo will not sow the new devices to be added. They do appear in Groups, but not individual devices.

One type is Philips Hue White Decorative Candle, LWE001 (450 Lumen) Dimmable Soft While 2700k

Another type is eWeLink On/Off Plug, Model SA-003-Zigbee

When I Reload Hue Hub Config the correct number of bulbs and switches is reported, and they appear in Group settings, but I can not make individual devices with them. Am I missing something? Or could they be added please to the supported devices?

Thank you so much!

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Hi.

Thanks for the report and details. I'll add support for those 2 device types in the next plugin update.

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Hi Nathan from Germany,

i recently bought two (E14) innr-bulbs (half the money of the hue versions). Any chance for them to make it to your next update ?

In my Hue-App everything works fine, a hack of the "supportedDevices.py" leads to a working on/off, but no chance for the Colors...

The bulbs are coded "RB 250 C" from innr. Do you need antything else? Maybe the JSON from the response of the HUE-Bridge?

Thanks in advance...
Dirk

Re: Hue Lights discussion

I have a couple of Innr bulbs (I am also from Germany) and they will work fine.
You should set log level to debug so that Nathan can see the details of the bulb and add them with the next update

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Hi Dirk.

Sorry for the delay. Yes, as MarcoGT said, debug log output will be helpful. I suspect the issue is that the edits made to the supportedDevices.py file were just in the wrong area as I have a few working innr color bulbs as well (though obviously a different model). Getting the debug log output will help. I'd also need to know the name of one of the bulbs to look for in the debug log output.
