Bulb swap/device save

I've got two bulbs that are both part of various scenes and actions.

One of them is faulty, no longer doing red colors. I want to swap the working one for the malfunctioning one, but both are defined in Indigo and both have scenes and actions associated. There's no way to change the Indigo device to an undefined Hue bulb, and there's no way to just choose the other bulb because it's already defined in the plugin.

Any way to fix this swap without resorting to deleting one from a bunch of scenes and actions first? Or does the warning overstate it--it seems to suggest that the scenes and actions will be deleted, but I would think only that device's part of those scenes & actions would go.

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Hi.

While it's true there's no way to change a Hue Lights Indigo device's reference to an undefined Hue device, it is possible to change the Indigo device to reference a Hue group. In most situations, people won't have created an Indigo device for the default Hue group zero, so you should be able to redefine your Indigo device that currently references one of your Hue bulbs to be swapped to reference Hue group zero. Just change "Model" in the Edit Device window to "Hue Group (Experimental)". Click "Edit Device Settings" then select "0: (All Hue Devices)" and click Save.

Re: Hue Lights discussion

My spouse wants an (some) remotely controlled (including color) lights for the attic windows. We have lots of insteon devices in use, and Indigo doing some of the control.

Lots of mac and iPhones in the house.

What is a good brand/model of remotely controlled colored lights. Control from iPhone and Indigo required. Given that this is a "Hue" thread, I would guess that Hue would be popular - but are there better options? And suggestions on models and accessories would be appreciated.

Re: Hue Lights discussion

I only have experience with the Hue branded color capable lights. There are the LightStrips if you need LED light strips and there are the Bloom and Go products. All are kind of expensive. I belive there's a LiFX Indigo plugin available. You may be able to use some Z-Wave color Lights too.

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Hello,

Will 1.3.28 work with Indigo 6.0.20? The install starts, and I get the "will upgrade and activate" dialog, but after agreeing I get nothing more.

Thanks.

Jesse

Re: Hue Lights discussion

You wouldn't usually get anything else after that message as it's detecting an older version of the plugin installed. If you've not used it before go to plugins > hue lights > enter the IP of your hue bridge > pair now. Once that's all done you'll need to create devices for the bulbs.

Computer says no.

Hue Device " - select an item - " no Devices ?

Hello,

I am running Indigo 6.1.11 and Hue Bridge BSB002 and have 1 Light Strip and 1 Group in HUE. Which all work. My Hue bridge is linked to Indigo.

Nov 4, 2016, 10:20:53 AM
Hue Lights Attempting to pair with the Hue hub at "192.168.55.127".
Hue Lights Paired with Hue hub successfully.
Hue Lights Debug logging disabled
Hue Lights Loaded 1 light.
Hue Lights Loaded 1 group.

But when I add a device I can not select the Light Strip the Hue Device list is empty. I'm rebooted, reloaded, resynced, etc. So sad :(

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Select the Hue Bulb model instead of the LightStrip model in the New Device dialog. The new Light Strip devices from Philips support color temperature unlike the previous Light Strips, so I had to add them to a device type in the plugin that supports color temperature. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: Hue Lights discussion

Try deleting the LightStrip Device in Indigo and recreating it. This will break any triggers or actions referencing the light, so test this with a LightStrip that has fewer references if possible.
