Trigger on any device in Device Group

Hello,

Is there a way to set up a trigger that fires when any device in a Device Group goes to On?

I'm using Device Groups to group my motion sensor into 'zones'. For some triggers, I'd like to perform an action when any of them report On, as opposed to only when one goes On after all have been Off.

Is this possible?

No, but it's a really interesting idea. I'll add it to the feature request list.

Thanks! Would be so much nicer than creating an action for each sensor that all do the same thing.

Would make it much easier to maintain 'zones' too, since I wouldn't have to remember to edit a bunch of different actions when I add or remove a device from the zone -- instead, just deselect/select in the group and done.

Re: Trigger on any device in Device Group

In attempt to work around this for now, I figured I could send an Off command to the Device Group. But it appears the Action Group UI won't let me send commands to these Virtual Devices -- there is nothing in the pull-down menu. It only lets me Update Status.

In the Device UI, I can manually set it to Off, and it does what I'm trying to do; that is, on the next motion, the Device Group is set to On and my triggers fire.

Is this a bug in the Action Group UI? If not, can I do this via AppleScript or something, even if it's a Bad Idea? I just want to work around this without adding a bunch of new action groups until you get this feature implemented.

To Indigo, it's a standard On/Off (relay) appliance device - so you control it by using the Turn On/Turn Off actions in the Light/Appliance Controls submenu.

Keep in mind, the Switchboard plugin is designed for this scenario. You may want to take a look at it.

Device groups has some similar features, but Switchboard and Device Groups are not the same thing.
