Example - Using a Device State for a Conditional IF

Post by DaveL17 »

Here's a sample shortcut that shows how to access a device state and use it's value to fire a conditional IF statement.
I came here to drink milk and kick ass....and I've just finished my milk.

Thank you for this, that's crazy I just started getting back into Shortcuts again as I have FINALLY figured out whole house audio announcements without lag, and I want to be able to order my children around from five different zones at once!

I feel like a noob here. I don't know anything about shortcuts but going to the App Store on my Mac, the shortcuts app is only for phones. What am I doing wrong to start?

What version of macOS are you using? The shortcuts app for macOS has only been around since about mid-2021 and, I believe, only available for Monterey (12.x) and Ventura (13.x).

Someone please correct me if that's wrong.

That could be it. I'm maxed out on Big Sur on a 2015 MacAir Client

Sounds like that's the case. I've added a note to the wiki to mention this.

I know where you're coming from. I only recently upgraded from a 2012 MBP on Catalina (no Shortcuts app there either).
