Short answer - Probably not.
Longer answer - it depends…
The plugin accesses the sql database of iMessage messages for incoming messages. Hence being able to be notified about incoming message, from whom etc. This should work regardless of whether iMessage ap is open or not. Although haven’t tested.
Sending messages however - relies on AppleScript communication to iMessage app. Doesn’t involve indigo server so no issues. This requires the iMessage application to be open.
I’ll look but don’t believe there is another way to send messages. If there was would have to be quite low level and probably prone to problems I would guess.
So technically it would seem you can receive messages and have indigo act on them, just not reply without the application being open.
