Cloud Based?

So I may be inheriting a relatively new Ecobee T-stat. Does all of the traffic between Indigo and the thermostat pass thru the cloud? Or does the plugin connect directly to the thermostat?

Cloud. There's no local network access to the device.

Re: Cloud Based?

I just asked this in another thread.

Well, at least Ecobee appears to have an open API. Emerson Sensi, who my builder's HVAC guy recommends, does NOT allow API access.

Re: Cloud Based?

Correct. I really like Ecobee if they work with your HVAC system. Unfortunately I had to replace two of mine when I installed a variable speed compressor unit.
