Ecobee Version 2 input requested

I'm well along on my project to do a major rewrite of the Ecobee plugin. It'll be ready for beta testing in a few days. Some of the highlights:

  • Authentication code has been reorganized to (hopefully) eliminate the recurring loss of authentication issues. At least, now I have a chance of figuring it out when it happens.
  • Name and plugin ID changed. This means all devices will need to be edited to specify the new plugin and device type.
  • Remote Sensors are now Indigo "sensor" devices, instead of custom devices. Sensor value is the current temperature. Sensor on/off is the occupancy detector.
  • Polling rate for the Ecobee servers is configurable, within limits. I'm still considering what the fastest poll rate should be.
  • Added menu commands to do zone resume and comfort setting selection actions.
  • Lots of code cleanup that won't be apparent to users.

So, while I'm deep in the code, what does it need to do that the old version didn't? Such as:

  • Support multiple Ecobee accounts?
  • Trigger Events? For what?

Suggestions welcome.

Everything you laid out sounds perfect. I have 3 ecobees, so support for multiple units is important, but the current code supports that.... the biggest thing for me (and I think others) will be the improved stability with the new code.

Happy to help in any way with testing.

Oops. Just re-read your post and saw you said multiple *accounts*, not multiple thermostats. I just use one account, so I don’t see any need for that...

As a resident "ecobee grump" (sorry Jay...) I'm obviously VERY excited about this and interested in testing. Good luck and can't wait to see it work!

As far as new capabilities go I honestly can't think of any that are desperately important beyond what it did before, short of straightening out the authentication thing. Once that's nailed down, the rest is honestly gravy in my mind. What you've laid out at the top of the thread is certainly great to hear though.

Can't wait!!!! :)

Any updates on this at all? Sure could use a working ecobee integration after over two years of failed experiments.

The new Ecobee plugin was released weeks ago: http://www.indigodomo.com/pluginstore/193/
