Autolog - just a heads up of a weird issue that has come up twice in 24 hrs.
Seen three more Odd incidents yesterday and the day before.
I do not not believe the TRV Plugin is at fault here for Case 1 or 2 - but Case 3 was weird and maybe as it was driving the issue.
Case 1:
On Friday came home to find the Heating had been on for 36 hours continuously.
Mainly due to a spare Bedroom named after my Granddaughter who visits the most. Molly.
Mollys TRV setting is set point 17C for three schedules throughout the day. Overridden by 'Guest Mode' when she is here which moves the set point to maintain higher temps for each schedule.
Despite the TRV and Radiator reporting Heat=On and Valve 100% and the TRV and SRT321 /HRT4 reporting a set point of 17C and actual temp of 14C, which triggered the Variable to invoke the Central Heating to turn on.
Also the heating was on continuously for 36 hours.
Restarting the TRV Plugin had no impact.
Removing the Batteries and reseating them in the TRV caused the valve to actually open and heat to start being delivered to the radiator.
Case 2:-
Left the house for three hours yesterday.
On return found the Lounge at 18C three degrees below target set point of 21C for the time we were away.
Again the TRV and Radiator reported Heat=On and Valve 100% but no heat going through the Radiator despite the Heating being on.
Again restarting the TRV Plugin had no impact, the radiator remained cold despite reporting Heat On and Valve at 100%.
Again removing and returning the Batteries into the TRV restored heat to the Radiator.
Case 3:-
Guest bedroom was reporting 21C with a set point of 17C with the Valve reporting 51%.
Only resolved after removing and replacing batteries.
Summary:-
In cases 1 and 2 TRV and Radiator was reporting everything was doing what it should be = just the Spirits were not actually doing what they appear to be reporting.
In Cases 1 and 2 TRV Devices were demanding heat - the heating/boiler was actually on as the uncontrolled radiators - Mainly Hallway and Master Ensuite were hot and had managed to get the rooms to 25C. I have graphs that captured all this.
It is possible that using rechargeable batteries may be the cause of this.
All Radiator TRVs were reporting Battery level at 30-35% - where Eneloop rechargeable batteries had been installed from March to June 2019.
I have replaced the batteries on ALL TRVs testing the new Ikea Ladda hybrid batteries along with a range of Eneloop Black and White pairs.
I have reset the alarm level on TRV batteries from 21% to 39% to replace them earlier.
I'll keep an eye on this - may setup some triggers to detect aberrant behaviour earlier in future.
