Re: Possible drop in replacement for Fantastic Weather plugi

Finally got round to trying this. Signed up for a Pirate API and have put it into the FW plugin configuration, but I keep getting messages saying that the plugin is unable to make a successful API connection. Not sure how to address (and also appreciate that plugin is on its last legs!)

I get the same issue so maybe an issue being outside of the US.

Re: Possible drop in replacement for Fantastic Weather plugi

@Londonmark and @neilk -- if you haven't updated to at least plugin version 2022.0.3, it definitely won't work.

https://github.com/DaveL17/Fantastic-We ... g/2022.0.3

I can't speak to the "outside the US" bit, but I don't suspect that's an issue. I don't have a VPN service to test that theory with.

Re: Possible drop in replacement for Fantastic Weather plugi

Hereby the request to get some advice.
- Update to the latest version of the FW plugin
- Changed the patch in the .ply file
- Filled in the new API from pirate-weather
- Restarted the FW plugin
and still getting the message, unable to make a successful connection to the API.

Does someone have suggestions how I can get this working again?

thx in advance

Re: Possible drop in replacement for Fantastic Weather plugi

Dave - I am indeed on the latest version (I had changed the earlier one to the new api call to test), I tried VPN's into the US and it made no difference.

I suspect it may be something to do with my account, even using the full API documentation page to make a call with my key it fails

Code: Select all
content-encoding: br
content-type: text/html
date: Sat, 22 Apr 2023 15:47:08 GMT
etag: W/"5f3cc4105afcad5b5e05f15c15aeaeb2"
last-modified: Wed, 19 Apr 2023 12:30:30 GMT
server: AmazonS3
vary: Accept-Encoding
via: 1.1 dfd34e1e01b522d0fbbf77a5352081ce.cloudfront.net (CloudFront)
x-amz-cf-id: m8_K_h3UqVswyKFlK0hhLveFWZhy-GEXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX==
x-amz-cf-pop: ATL58-P4
x-amz-error-code: NoSuchKey
x-amz-error-detail-key: forecast/CCcJDyXCTJaSBzcmq5bC47oJuaor1XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
x-amz-error-message: The specified key does not exist.
x-cache: Error from cloudfront

so I suspect we will need to take it up on the site as it is nothing to do with the plugin (or location if my VPN test is to be believed.

@marcel langelaan

I had another user that couldn't get an updated version to work and we were unable to figure out why. I can't reproduce the problem here. (That user was in the States.)

Try:
Copy your API key to the clipboard.
Disable the FW plugin.
Delete the plugin preferences file at:

Code: Select all
/Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 2022.2/Preferences/Plugins/com.fogbert.indigoplugin.fantasticwWeather.indiPref
Restart the plugin and re-enter the plugin preferences (including the new API key).

@Neilk

Sorry to hear that you're still having trouble. Hopefully, the developer will be able to help you find a solution. If you find one, please share with the class. :D

Good luck!

Re: Possible drop in replacement for Fantastic Weather plugi

I have raised an issue and will keep everyone posted on progress, it is definitely not plugin related as the calls fail directly against the API for my account.

Re: Possible drop in replacement for Fantastic Weather plugi

Just to confirm - I'm definitely running 2202.0.3 and it's definitely not managing to make a succesfful connection to the API.

Re: Possible drop in replacement for Fantastic Weather plugi

For what its worth its not working for me either, nothing to do with the plugin, even if I create the request on the Full reference page on the Pirate https://pirate-weather.apiable.io/full-api-reference#get-/forecast/-api_key-/-lat_and_long_or_time-weather website

Perhaps it is regional thing, I'm in the UK as well, does anyone actually have it working?

@Colin - I assume your question is directed at U.K. users (or non-U.S.) users. It's working for me, but with data issues.

Re: Possible drop in replacement for Fantastic Weather plugi

I raised an issue on the GitHub page and will also email the owner/author. It seems he changed the sign up process and I wonder if it is correctly setting the new API keys up. Out of interest anyone in the UK working with this (or outside the. US). ?
