New plugin - RFPlayer by ZiBlue

https://github.com/FlyingDiver/Indigo-R ... v7.0.0.zip

This plugin communicates with the ZiBlue RFPLayer RF multiprotocol USB dongle. The RFPlayer supports transmit and receive commands on the 433MHz and 866MHz bands. This device is similar (I think) to the RFXCOM/RFXTRF device supported by another plugin.

Supported devices include:

    Visonic
    Domia/ARC
    X10
    Somfy RTS
    Blyss
    Oregon Scientific
"Parrot" mode supports sending or triggering on learned commands not associated with a specific device protocol.

See http://rfplayer.com/ for details.

Quick Start

  1. Connect the RFPlayer dongle to an available USB port
  2. Install the RFPlayer plugin
  3. Optionally set the plugin configuration information for temperature units and plugin update check frequency.
  4. Create a new RFPlayer device of type "RFPlayer Dongle". Select the serial port the dongle is connected to. Select US or EU depending on your RFPlayer model (different frequency bands are used US vs EU).
  5. The dongle will start listening for sensor transmissions on the default RF bands. The plugin will collect information about each new sensor that transmissions are received from.
  6. Create new RFPlayer devices for each sensor. The known devices will be available in the popup list for each device type.

Currently, the plugin has only been tested with Oregon, Visonic, and Domia sensors, and an X10 RF interface unit. Those are all the devices I or my one beta tester had access to. If you get one of these dongles and have other supported devices I will work with you to add support for additional devices.

Interesting.. in your opinion do you feel this is a better device than the rfxtrx433? Mine has just failed (it’ll send commands but receiving is nearly completely kaput) so I’m gonna be looking for a replacement. What’s your thoughts on range?

Computer says no.

Honestly, I have nothing to compare it to. Never had an rfxtrx433. It's picking up an Oregon sensor outside that's a good 40 ft from the dongle through a concrete block wall.

John Harrison is the only other beta tester, and he's in the UK with an EU model. Hopefully he can provide more data for you.

Well that sounds promising, I’ll be interested to see what comes of it over the coming months (it’s gonna be a while until I can get one.. kinda used every spare penny I had on vets bills :/ )

On a side note do you know if you can attach an external antenna? Where my server is based is effectively in a faraday cage so external antenna is kinda crucial.

There's two antennas and they're removable. I would expect you could buy/make an extension cable of some kind.

Cool, glad someone did this plugin as it appears that you can't get the RFXrec433 in North America any more (I did a brief search the other day and didn't find it on any of the typical HA stores including Amazon).

Just looked at their site - oddly, there are no links I can find to actually buy the thing. Did they mention to you where they were available (assuming you talked with them)?

French Amazon and eBay seem to have them at €149.

It's a French company, so not surprising that's the first available place.

I sent an email this morning telling them I was posting the plugin. I've been asking when it's going to be publicly available but they haven't said much yet.

Durosity, pm me your name and UK postal address and I’ll send you my rfxtrx.

I’ve not used it for ~12 months as I replaced it with Remotec.

No charge.

Agreed! Hear hear for howartp!

I probably should have been a bit clearer on my post:

I should have said "Did they mention to you where they were available in the US/Canada". Even so, they don't have links to anyone that sells them which seems like pretty big oversight...

Dang that’s really generous of you! Are you sure I can’t offer you something in exchange? How about a 10% share of Jays house?
