Ben Software MIA

I’ve tried to get on their website for the past two days in order to check for a Security Spy update and the site appears to be down. Anyone heard anything?

Re: Ben Software MIA

It’s working fine for me here. And an update was released about 10 days ago so clearly still active!

Re: Ben Software MIA

I'm having a problem accessing it from my home computers. However, when I turn off wifi on my iPhone and use safari there it comes up fine. I believe I've got a DNS lookup problem either in my home router setup or my ISP has an issue.

Same here. Weird. I tried changing DNS from 1.1.1.1 to 8.8.8.8, no dice. Not sure who to complain to about it.

Re: Ben Software MIA

Not sure how to do that on a UniFi system, snooping through system settings now.

Re: Ben Software MIA

Could be you’ve got it blocked using one of the threat management settings?

Re: Ben Software MIA

That's exactly what the problem was on my system. Apparently I got a little too aggressive in blocking some countries on my UDM. To test it, I turned off that setting briefly and sure enough everything worked as normal.

Now I have to go through my rules and determine which one was the culprit.

Same thing. I wonder if Ubiquiti changed something in the threat management with an update. Now I know what I’ll be doing today. Whoever finds it first, post. UK isn’t blocked on my system, so it’s gotta be something else.

Edit: Looks like it’s Kazakhstan. Go figure. I blocked UK on purpose to see what would happen and bensoftware dot com came right through. Rebuilding the threat list might have helped, Ubiquiti is funny that way.

So I tried blocking France and bensoftware still came through. Maybe the way the internet routing goes. But I don’t have all that much faith in what the network controller is telling me, tbh. Maybe I’ll try posting on the Security Spy and UniFi forums and see if anything pops up.
