Questions about plugin

So I installed the plugin, logged in and was able to add the device. However it doesn't show a state. I want to use it as a motion alarm to trigger a motion alarm through the homekit plugin. Is it not installed correctly?

Re: Questions about plugin

Can anyone help with this? Do I need to make a virtual device or something?

Questions about plugin

You can find the device states in the UI by scrolling down in the small states window at the bottom panel when the device is selected - not obvious but it’s there!

I use a change in “last motion time” in a trigger to turn on external lights if it’s dark. No need for a virtual device! Seems to work OK, although with some delay due to the need for comms with the Ring server.

Good luck,

mclass

Re: Questions about plugin

Wow. Thanks for that. That's not an area I've ever seen before. Forgive me for my questions, but is it possible to make a virtual on/off device with the motion sensor or ring status? I'm pretty new at this. I believe I would need that in order to import it into the Homekit Bridge plugin to act as a Homekit on/off motion sensor to pull up a video from my OTHER camera that is at my front door.

At least Ring has responded today and said that Homekit will be supported this fall, probably with the release of iOS12. Supposedly.

Re: Questions about plugin

It might be even easier to use my Masquerade plugin http://www.indigodomo.com/pluginstore/34/ to make a device that HomeKit will accept. It was pretty much designed to do exactly that.

Re: Questions about plugin

Sorry, I am confused as well. I installed the plugin. Next I added a device:

And it shows up like this:

But I really don't know what to do with that. Is it supposed to show me any information? Also, here is the log:

Thanks!

Re: Questions about plugin

Well that is not good. I will debug this over the weekend.
